yari585 Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 my boyfriend went to the bahamas this weekend with his family. he ended up packing a shirt that says "define girlfriend?" i found out when he got back...i was bothered by it mainly because we have argued about this shirt before. we have been together for 10 months now i told him i felt it was disrespectful towards me and he is sending out the wrong message. He told me he likes how the shirt fits him and he likes to get a reaction out of people. was i overreacting?
Gallaxia Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 No, I don't think so. How does he not see that wearing a shirt like that, does himself a disservice? It screams of distrust. Even if it's just for a laugh. I'd be offended too.
skydiveaddict Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I wouldn't worry about it. It's just a t-shirt
Author yari585 Posted July 14, 2010 Author Posted July 14, 2010 thanks so much for your thoughts lol the "im with stupid" t-shirt idea was great..i will definitely do it just for laughter lol haha thanks again for understanding.

(i've seen that shirt before, btw ) lighten up ... but, if you guys really aren't on the same page on the commitment, then time to find your own "define boyfriend" t-shirt.
brainygirl Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Can you take a fabric marker to the back and write something along the lines of "girl who puts up with my crap and calls me on my *****"
BobSacamento Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Women always say they want a man with a sense of humor. Funny that it really doesn't matter for the man haha.
D-Lish Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 OP- When I got divorced, my gf's gave me a tiny little t-shirt that said "I'M NOT WITH STUPID ANYMORE" I can't even tell you how many men made the effort to approach, attempt a conversation or make a comment- which was the point of the shirt. For sure, a shirt like that is designed to attract a buzz.

angielove Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Eh, I don't think 'Define Girlfriend' is that funny. If I saw some dude wearing that shirt I would most definitely think he was a douchebag. If I saw someone wearing the shirt 'I'm Not With Stupid Anymore' I would demand to know where they got it from lol! Anyway, back to my point. Quite a lame shirt. Don't get upset about it and don't get revenge... just be content with the fact that everyone thinks he looks like an idiot!
Blade Runner Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Yeah I agree. Let him be a douchebag. As long as it's just him wearing the shirt and not actually carrying that attitude. It's not even a funny or remotely amusing shirt. If anything I'd be offended that he has such poor taste in anything. Does he wear hairgel and blue baggy jeans too?
Star Gazer Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Eh, I don't think 'Define Girlfriend' is that funny. If I saw some dude wearing that shirt I would most definitely think he was a douchebag. Totally agree!
Shakz Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Oh, I just got it. "Define girlfriend..." Ah, ha, ha.
norajane Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 He wore this on a trip with his family? What are they like? Because douchebags don't fall far from the tree.
marsle85 Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Is this the type of guy who would wear a shirt that says "I see dumb people"? If so, you definitely need to dump him. Lame-o.
Citizen Erased Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I'd be concerned that you made sure he knows you think it's disrespectful towards you, something small that would cost him nothing really to get rid of, and he continues to wear it.
TaraMaiden Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 "He can't spell. it's meant to read 'definite' "....
dispatch3d Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 lol hilarious. The shirt isn't actually that funny, pissing off your girlfriend this way is kinda. Yeah I'm a dick. Obviously you should be mad. It's pretty disrespectful to wear a shirt that says that, or to think that way. And it shouldn't be that big of a deal for him to not wear it. It's not even shirt-funny, it's more situationally funny.
sally4sara Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 So you make a tshirt that says "he's not a BF; he's a fluffer"
TouchedByViolet Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I'd be concerned that you made sure he knows you think it's disrespectful towards you, something small that would cost him nothing really to get rid of, and he continues to wear it. I totally agree with this. The fact that you let him know the shirt bothers you and he still chooses to wear it is not respectful.
make me believe Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Eh, I don't think 'Define Girlfriend' is that funny. If I saw some dude wearing that shirt I would most definitely think he was a douchebag. Seriously! I'd be concerned that my boyfriend even owned such a douchey shirt!
sagetalk Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Eh, I don't think 'Define Girlfriend' is that funny. If I saw some dude wearing that shirt I would most definitely think he was a douchebag. I agree, though I wouldn't think he was one, I would know it.
Curt Posted July 15, 2010 Moderators Posted July 15, 2010 I think that it is amazing and troubling that the words on a joke T-shirt is in any way considered egregious. If you do end up getting him to stop wearing it, I sincerely hope you will also ensure that you dress in a way that he will not have any disagreement with, either. Afterall, that would only be reasonable and just in a spirit of reciprocity. Curt
mixwell Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Is this the type of guy who would wear a shirt that says "I see dumb people"? If so, you definitely need to dump him. Lame-o. I hate to agree but I do.. Those lame hot topic style shirts are nerdy and that shirt does make him look like a douche.. You should try to help him by letting him know that he isn't 17 years old and shirts like that only make him look more like a nerd.. Those stupid say shirts I ALWAYS associate with loser/douche bag and I am a guy.. I feel like saying "C'mon dude be a little more original" but why waste the breath.. I would never be caught dead in a shirt that says "define girlfriend" even as being single..what a nerd... he needs to join the rest of us and stop dressing like a douche to be honest.

Let me guess dose he also own some of those rinestone muscle tees I see guys wearing on mtv all the time lately ewww.. There are only two men in history who could pull off wearing that many rhinestones Liberachi & Elton john lol..
