Smiling at your "gaydar." My son says mine is the worst he's ever seen. He's pretty good at it.

As an aside, Argentina just legalized gay marriage. Yay!

Don't you know? The gays and lesbians are all going to band together and take over the world. TAKE OVER THE WORLD I SAY!!!!!

Really? maybe they can help me get rid of all the tacky plaid stuff in my closet might be a welcome thing after all lol. I personalty like gay people cause most that I have ran into weren't as judgmental as allot of straight ones are. Some times I seriously think that most hard core religious people are the biggest hypocrites of all..

This is just a stab in the dark here im not big into religion myself but isent the bible just mans interpretation of Jesus after all? I mean its not actually HIS words he didn't write it himself was it even written at the same time he was supposedly alive?

If not then is it so far fetched to think that the bible itself is then actually the work of MAN not GOD? im just saying man tends to add to things what he likes no?

isent it possible that even the church has added to it over the centuries to make the bible itself more representative of the current thinking of the world/church? even if those views are sometimes intolerant at the time. Hope that makes sense..

My stepson, who is also my second cousin (blood related) is gay. He is the product of my H's relationship with my cousin.

My nephew (my husbands' brother's son) is also gay. I know this isn'yt the popular view, but both those boys had molestation issues as youngsters. By a same-sex person. We love and support them both. but they are pretty reckless sexually, and knowing male sexuality as we do, we know they will pursue anything and everything at their age that comes along.

All we can do is provide guidance. I really think these two were born this way, but sometimes I wonder given the family dynamics (also a male cousin is gay).

Who knows??

I say Bingo! SpanksTheMonkey! Look how many religions and observances we have from the Bible.

I have a friend who lives in the Bible belt. He was constantly questioning the Bible. He was always coming to me for answers since my father is a preacher. My friend started saying that God lied. He was constantly bringing up scripture and saying God lied/lies to us. The more answers I gave him, the more he was riled up.

One day I said to him, "The Bible is man's word. If you want to say someone lied, it is man. The Bible was written by man, not God. It is an interpretation of God's word over hundreds and thousands of years. And we know how twisted things get when it gets translated."

That was an epiphany for him when I said that. He has not once since I said that to him say "God lies."

I said to him, "In fact, if God were on trial in a US court, since he never speaks to anyone (out loud) and has us rely on faith to believe in him, the Bible would not be allowed in as evidence of his word because it would be considered here say."

He asked me why I believe and could I make him understand. I told him I couldn't make him understand because it is through personal experiences that I do. I cannot make him feel what I feel by using words.

As to the opening question of gay being a choice. My personal opinion is that it is not.

Is being gay a sin according to the Bible? I can't answer that. There are so many sins listed in the Bible that I feel it is impossible to keep up and not to sin. We can only do our best to lead a good respectable life whatever that means to each person. I believe it to mean to do my best and to not harm others. I'm not perfect and have my weak moments but overall try to be good.

Another thought to those who consider being gay a sin: What gender is a hermaphrodite? Are they sinning when they fall in love with a certain gender? What if their parents surgically removed one organ when they were a baby but their hormones and genes are for the opposite gender? Those are the questions I have that make my opinion that being gay is not a choice. Maybe the body has certain physical organs but the chemicals of the body are the opposite.

Interesting point. I remember in psychology learning about ambiguous genitals. Many times, if memory serves me correct, parents opt for surgery developing a vagina in these cases as I suppose this is an easier surgery than trying to create a penis for these persons.

I was appalled they would choose for the person, but the parents wanted their children to be "normal" and grow up psychologically well-developed. I'm not knocking the thought process, but what a difficult decision that would be!

However, once they reach puberty it turned out many times their hormones took over and decided which sexual preference the person had. I wonder how many of these people were boys made into girls -- but they actually were homosexual boys who liked guys anyway? It's an interesting thought. I suppose in that case as far as fundamentalist Christians are concerned -- the person isn't sinning if he decides to marry a man -- even though he is actually a man. :p

Thanks for your response Sam, I know I'm not alone in my thoughts.

I don't despise gay people. I don't understand how one man could want to have sex with another man but you have to make your own life and live it yourself.

The men that get violent over other gay men are probably secretly gay themselves or have something they feel they need to prove to other men about their manhood. I'm sure you've heard this a million times.

I don't have to agree with the fact that someone is gay nor do I have to accept this lifestyle but common respect should be shown to all. We are afterall rowing in the same boat. Life is too short for hatred.

Ms. Red this is totally off topic but your picture is ridiculously cute.

Not like it matters at this point. I totally stumped the Jesus Lizards with my questions & cleared them from this thread. Too bad because I was hoping they had an answer for me.

AHAHAHAHA....I love it Namul.

I believe in God and Jesus. I respect others who don't. What I don't get is why anyone who truly loves the Lord, doesn't understand very basic teachings regarding love..... Do unto others and all of that......

:) at the Jesus lizard video.

I don't get the "don't have to accept this lifestyle" post. I just don't get it. Should someone's sexual preference be up to a vote or acceptance by others when it is engaged with a participating adult? I hope common respect includes not taking action to making sure a homosexual isn't able to be with the one they love via marriage or any other way. I think we should think of the liberties we enjoy and understand a homosexual has every right to enjoy the same liberties -- marriage included.
