sally4sara Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Can we also say that women who adopt male behaviors are a turn-off? If woman want men to be men again why can't they start being women? You can't ask men to be alpha again while at the sane time calling us sexist when we don't want some ballbusting feminist. I don't see how it is asking men to act like men by not exhibiting these traits. I don't see how exhibiting these traits is acting like a woman. They just seem to describe childish behaviors no matter what gender the person exhibiting them was born with.
Author threebyfate Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 Yes, but Mummy leopard isn't wrapping her cub in cotton wool. She is exposing him to the big, hard, cruel wide world and teaching him how to survive. That doesn't happen much with humans any more.Mummy leopard goes off to hunt and leaves her cubs to fend for themselves until she returns. Only the strong and smart survive this period. On the otherhand, Mummy elephant keeps baby elephant with her until he matures to breeding age, then gets chased off from the herd. So maybe human mothers should be ejecting their boys from home when they hit the age of majority.
Green Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 So, where's Dad? Being destroyed by a society that rewards men who don't care and don't want to be fathers while taking away rights and destroying a man who does. You can't compare animals and people. Humans are far more complex and there are far more environmental influences on people than there are animals. I think you're going a bit overboard on that 99% of men being raised by women thing. Plus in the past boys were considered men at much younger ages. These boys left the house in their early teens and learned how to become a man by joining their fathers and others in whatever endeavors they had. Not too long ago there weren't child labor laws and all of that stuff to prevent such a thing. The people animal comparisons are always ridiculouse... And as far as her 99% statistic she made it up... plus historicaly the world has been a MANS world until recent times even if a woman did raise the children or what ever... so I don't know what she is talking about
TheLoneSock Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I'm giggling a bit thinking about this but historically, 99% of men were raised by their mothers since their fathers were too busy raiding the neighbors for food. As well, consider the rest of the animal kingdom. Have you ever seen a pansy leopard or elephant? In both these animals, the father provides his sperm and wanders off. Haha, well I get your point. But in most of human history males stayed home with the mothers only until they were old enough to join the men in the hunt/raid/other shenanigans (which started at a young age). In nearly every culture it was like this, unless you were an Amazon woman . It has always taken two. You could even argue it takes more than two if you follow the old saying 'It takes a village... to rear a child.'

So maybe human mothers should be ejecting their boys from home when they hit the age of majority. Making general comparisons between how animals act and how humans act is meaningless. The Emperor Penguin has one mate per year and stays faithful to that mate. So should all Humans do the same? Obviously they don't.

AND worst of all: Passivity. is it ok for women to do that **** tho?
Gero Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 is it ok for women to do that **** tho? Exactly. Sorry threebyfate, but I seriously think that YOU need to stop playing the victim and blaming men in general for your inability to find a man that lives up to whatever your standards are. Stop hating and maybe open your heart a little and you'll find whatever it is that you are looking for.

Our brains are so much more developed with extra parts on our brain they dont have its a ****in crazy ass assumption/insult to compare us to 'primitive' animals.

By the time Nellie and Spot leave home they have been exposed to life, taken their knocks and know what it's all about. If they stop, bleat, whine or wallow in self pity they won't survive. It's no different for us.
Author threebyfate Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 No worries, guys. If you don't want to hear it, that's your choice to put your fingers in your ears and go "la...la...la...". Hope you get what you want out of life.

Gero Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Hating? She's giving a free lesson. Maybe you should open your eyes.... My eyes are open. She hasn't said anything of substance at all. She's made comparisons between animals and humans that have no validity and has stated a list of things that she says are wrong with men when in fact these are traits that men would also find unattractive in women. She has also greatly exaggerated what she considers facts to try to argue her side. There is no lesson in anything she is saying. Sorry, but it's true.

Hope you get what you want out of life. I get what your saying. But you gotta admit, the evolution of gender roles brought on by feminism has had a big impact on how men socially condition by society. Being a mans man like you want isn't what we see anymore in our culture. Just look at any sitcom on tv and all you see are men who try to decieve and hide things from their wives. King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond, George Lopez ... All involve p*ussy whipped husbands. Men don't have good male role models anymore.

But I do have problems with military Feminism which is why I don't embrace it. I'm a combination liberal and third-wave Feminist which means people have to do it for themselves, as long as laws don't restrict or prevent by gender.

King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond, George Lopez ... All involve p*ussy whipped husbands. Men don't have good male role models anymore. When did they ever? Maybe role models for specific purposes, but not in having successful relationships. And for that matter, neither have women. Sure, you might have been one of the rare folks who had parents that had a happy life with each other. Maybe an aunt and uncle you saw only when they were at their best so you thought they had it all figured out. But if we'd ever had any real good solid role models for successful relationships where both parties felt loved and content - we wouldn't have sites like LS. Its a simple matter of what works for one couple, won't necessarily work for another.

We know what they are because women like you tell us what they are all time... And I personally think feminism is a great thing, but this is just one of it's negative side effects. Men are going through a transition phase right now, and need to come to terms with whatever our contemporary gender roles are.

A brilliant way to go about it that guys say they try but never REALLY try is to be a real friend to your fellow PERSON. I firmly believe anyone who can't respect that isn't worth having. As a friend or a lover.

CLC2008 Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 It suddenly occurred to me why proverbial "nice guys" and PUAs are such a turn-off. They've adopted female behaviours. Agree or disagree? The same can be said for women adopting male behaviors.

TheLoneSock Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Lol, this thread got derailed so hard. I only have one thing to say: Mad Men Watch it.
