threebyfate Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 It suddenly occurred to me why proverbial "nice guys" and PUAs are such a turn-off. They've adopted female behaviours. Agree or disagree?
Gero Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 It suddenly occurred to me why proverbial "nice guys" and PUAs are such a turn-off. They've adopted female behaviours. Agree or disagree? Ha. No. Being considerate and caring about other people is not a gender specific trait.
USMCHokie Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 TBF, Based on some of your previous posts in response to my threads, you tend to believe that females are more emotionally driven and will exhibit more emotionally charged behaviors. Meanwhile, men are "supposed" to be emotionally stoic and avoid open displays of emotion or revealing their emotions through actions or words. Is this what you mean by "female behaviors"?
Thierro Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Pua's are turn-offs? Lols.. I guess you are referring to something different
Hot Carl Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 When I started reading this thread and realized it was just another on this burnt out old topic of "nice guys" I went to my room, threw myself on my bed and had a long cry into my pillow. I got up, ate some chocolate, and I feel better now.
Author threebyfate Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 I always get the feeling threebyfate hates menNope. Just pansies and I don't mean gay men.
Gero Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Nope. Just pansies and I don't mean gay men. I feel bad for you if you hate men just because they don't live up to your standards. I don't hate women just because they vote or have jobs. Who's to say how everyone of a specific gender should act?

freestyle Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 While I admire a lot of feminine traits---(nurturing, empathy) I absolutely can't stand the negative traits , like gossiping, cattiness, etc. I've encountered a couple of effeminate , but hetero ,men in my experience that exhibit the worst of female traits, and it makes my skin crawl. I expect a lot of women to be catty, but seeing a guy behave like that just seems soooo.......wrong.

Meanwhile, men are "supposed" to be emotionally stoic and avoid open displays of emotion or revealing their emotions through actions or words. Is this what you mean by "female behaviors"?I'll break it down for you, including the stoicism: Over-emotionalism.Whining.A lack of initiative.Irrational thinking.Mirroring.Next in a bitchy rather than shoulder shrugging way.Victim attitude.Disney princess expectations. Can't stand fat women but wants to be accepted for all of their flaws.Wants to be taken care of and protected. AND worst of all: Passivity.
Author threebyfate Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 Agree. Am surprised you only just noticed. It's been at the back of my mind but jumped out at me today.
TheLoneSock Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 AND worst of all: Passivity. I agree with most of that list. This one, however, can mean a few different things. You should break it down further.

Gero Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Just a thought, but maybe women have too many expectations of how men are supposed to act. Remember the old days when guys were more like what you described they should be? Women would complain that they want their guy to be more open with his feelings and this and that. Then men finally respond over the last however many years and now they suddenly decide that they went overboard and want them to go back to how they were.

It might seem like what women 'want' has taken a ride on a roller coaster back and forth over the generations, but I assure you they've always wanted the same principal things by and large.
Author threebyfate Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 The one thing that jumps out in my mind is a lack of initiative. This was categorized separately since I was thinking about career and life direction but could be together. Passivity: Wants women to ask them out.Wants women to pursue them.

Why don't we name the principal things that they want instead of being negative about everything and putting down men for not possessing traits that some of them are not even aware that they are supposed to possess?
Cracker Jack Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Those listed behaviors are rather annoying for both genders. Don't know why men are being hand-picked here. No one wants that in their significant other.
Gero Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Those listed behaviors are rather annoying for both genders. Don't know why men are being hand-picked here. No one wants that in their significant other. Yep. True dat.

Well if you take a look at the list again and think of opposite behaviors, that should give you a good idea. And while were on the mini subject of past generations, keep in mind that guys are not the same as they were in the 30s and 40s, or even the 50s. A lot of it has to do with the relationship between father and son, which has made a drastic change in more recent generations.
SadandConfusedWA Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I can not stand passive men who lack initiative - that's one of the deal breakers for me.
