Mainly for things for ME...not for baby or wife.

I'm totally cheap. I get buyer's remorse a lot. Even

now i'll buy a hat for $20 for myself and then obsess about

the groceries I could have bought with that money.

Even back when i had more money coming in and the wife

was working as well and we could afford clothes and music and

shoes and going out to eat all the time and all that, I STILL was

cheap about buying things for myself.

My mom used to be like that. During therapy she uncovered that it was her maladaptive and passive-aggressive way of seeking/getting attention and sympathy. Boy, did she not like to find-out that about herself. To her credit, though, she recognized it as her 'higher' lesson to improve in this area.

I recently read somewhere that guilt is not at all a noble emotion; that it's more self-victimizing and self-indulgent than anything because nothing actually good or noble comes out of it.

Tell me about it.. but once you have a kid you can't put him back

I think buyers remorse come's from always putting others first in our lives..

We always think that we are not putting them first when we buy ourselves something.

The trick is to start to make yourself a priority in your life..

I have similar issues, but I don't have kids. I always spend my money on other people and rarely buy anything for myself. Then when I do buy something for myself I either feel guilty or just get bored with it and end up giving it to someone else instead. :(

I love to shop but im frugal about it if I want something expensive I'll usually buy it second hand long as its in good condition.

Example my latest acquisition a 300 dollar digi cam for 60 bucks! Shopping like that you get a bargain so it doesn't feel like you waisted money clearance is our friend as well you should try it some time.

Were your parents tight as well? if so you may have picked up on there example.
