I find the "car" status to be a bit strange.

I am a scientist in my early thirties in a beautiful small European city that is about 1000 years old... There is not much parking around here to say the least and everything you need is in walking distance. Plus, an 8 min walk form where I live there is a train station that can connect you to any other city or airport in Europe. Many of my co-workers and myself included do not own cars while we live here.

I also know many Americans who put themselves into a lot of debt for a car...

Some people in the US use cars as a way to establish status. Nice car = wealth, power, doing well for yourself.

Also, many US towns and cities are not at all set up for people to get along without a car.

Imagine no public transportation, no passanger trains, no taxis. Add to that the fact that town are spread out along a river or train track, instead of being compact with in a set of defensible "walls" as many european towns were.

The one and only grocery store is three miles away, and sits in the center of a parking lot. The schools are all over a mile from my house, same for doctor's offices. If I were to want to travel, I would have to drive two hours to the nearest airport. It is not possible to function as an adult here without a car. So, I won't date a man without one. I would probably feel differently if I lived in a small european town.

I cannot stand a guy who is flirtacious with other girls, any form of disrespect, even the tiniest amount, i absolutely cannot tolerate. Even if I tried, I just cant.
