Jenna_suicide Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Im 16 and the guy I like is 19 turning 20 sometime soon. I have NEVER liked someone this much and its basically because he is super easy to talk to and he cares bout me and listens to me, which I have never had from a guy in any relationship. Is it wrong to like someone older than me like that. I also dont want to get him in trouble but we dont plan on having sex or anything. Legal age of consent is 17. would we get in trouble just for dating??
Ronni_W Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Hi Jenna. No, I've not heard of there being (legal) trouble with under-age dating when there's no sexual activity involved. I would definitely hold off until you are legal-consent age before having sex, though -- to me that's just smart and prudent of you both to do. So, basically: you're 16 and he's 20. Just by the numbers, I'm not seeing any problem. Of course, that's not to say that your dad and/or mom won't have any issues with it! After your parents, it TOTALLY depends on your individual personalities, levels of maturity, and common values and interests. And, of course, on how well you two can inspire, support and encourage each other in your individual aspirations as well as contribute to the relationship's happiness and success. (It's like 3 different 'entities' -- you, him and the relationship. All three must be nurtured and supported) Best of luck.
