However, because she came to you, I guess it's possible that she already cleared it with her father. It's your call, but I think it would put a strain on your friendship, even if all goes well. If the relationship gets rocky, which invariably they always do, I think you would find yourself in a tough situation.

I think it would be OK to be friends...and if it evolved into something really special I think it would still be important to clear it with your friend. Make it very clear to all parties that if things don't work out, it won't affect the friendship. And if you do see her, be sure you behave yourself. Is that short enough?
