So on the last day of my trip with my girlfriend of 3.5 months, I told her I loved her. I was worried it may be too soon, but I meant what I said (hell, I even said as much ;) and I thought it might be a good way to cap our first vacation together.

Anyway, she responded with "me too" (and not "I love you too.") Now I'm probably overthinking things, but is that a good sign, or could that just be her not wanting to disagree? After I told her that, I brushed away what looked like a tear from her face, which she called a "tear of happiness," though this could also just have been an sweat bead from the, err, "extracurricular activities" we had just engaged in moments prior

The rest of the day went as is usual for us--had a great time but nothing more of this "love" saying business from either of us (nor in the email exchange we had today, which is also how we usually communicate).

So...thoughts?

There are many things we take for granted, and one of them is a response, no matter what response.

In this case, would you rather she just been quiet?

If you feel like it, say it, but never say it expecting a response. "I love you" should always be outcome-independent.

Well, personally (being an aquarius) I find these moments of 'honey, I love you' quite stressful............. 'ditto' or 'me, too' sounds like a great, safe reply to me........... really it's all about how you guys get on..... do you have fun, do you really enjoy each others company? Is the 'I love you' for real and sincere? If all is just right, you'll know it, feel it, and you won't wonder about the specifics of her response.........

Well, I have to wonder know more as she said the magic words last night :D

But now what? =P I mean, how often does one usually say it at this point? Should I end every visit with an "I love you"?

Idiot out.

I agree with the outcome-independent bit - just say it when you feel like saying it! Better than a ritualistic 'every time I say goodbye' or something along those lines.
