I'm not talking about your worst heartbreak, although you can talk about that too if you want. I'm wondering what's the worst, lamest way you've been dumped...or that you've dumped someone else.

Recently my old high school bf came back to town after finishing his MA. He looked me up through some old friends and the spark was still there, so we kind of started back up. At first everything was pretty intense; I don't usually believe in second or third chances but we didn't break up because either one of us was a jerk, we broke up due to circumstances beyond our control at the time.

The thing is, my sisters live with me. My middle sister while she goes to school, and my baby sister who is 9 and in my full legal custody.

I don't usually let my boyfriends hang out around the house much until things get serious, bc of my baby sister. But this guy had been around before, he remembered what our life was like when we were with our mom, he knew my sis when she was really little. I slipped up and he was around a lot.

Anyway after a few months of him taking me out almost every weekend and coming by during the week sometimes for dinner, even helping the kid with her homework, he broke up with me on my answering machine. It was a really short message and he basically said it wasn't me, it was my baby sister. And she was in the room when the message played!

I couldn't get to the delete button in time.

She feels awful and I have had to tell her over and over again that I wouldn't change her for him for the world.

Two days later he called back and begged me to forgive him and said he just panicked and he made a mistake. I told him to eat sh*t and die, basically. I could never take somebody back under these circumstances. ANd next time, dude, at least write a letter if you can't do it in person!

I've had girls break up with me in notes when I was in high school. :D

Can't wait to see the "Facebook" stories in this thread.

"OMG, he/she/it changed their status relationship to -Single-, WtF?"

Well I understand he made a mistake but he did admitt it. I think this at least takes this down from being "the lamest" status. In my view of your situation anyway.

Facebook breakups are ****ing hilarious, no offence. I feel for everyone, but if I'm in the mood to laugh there are many facebook-fail related sites that document these public and cold breakups

One guy I had been dating for a month or so, his wife picked up the phone one day when I was returning his call, and she told me to stop harrassing him, stop making his life a nightmare.. Guess he got busted and was trying to cover his ass.

No, I didn't know he was married.

BTDT, but via MySpace! Man, that sucked.

Another was via text message.

WTF is wrong with people?! :lmao:

An indirect email sent from 6,000 miles away. After three years together. Didn't even have the balls to have an actual discussion, just moved out and went total 'no contact' for no apparent reason (she was blonde and sucked up to his insecure ass). I'm still torn up about it, but slightly relieved - as he was the worst lay ever. It's good, really... even though I still miss him...

But the WORST by far is what my stepfather did to my mother. After 15 years of marriage he gathered up all his stuff in garbage bags while she was at work one day and left a f*cking NOTE.

I'm not trying to win a prize for lamest breakup ever--obviously reading this thread I would lose--but it is my lamest, to date. I still maintain that it's pretty bad, he was a regular at my house and knew perfectly well that I had an answering machine rather than voicemail, and that a nine year old girl was very likely to hear that he was using her as the reason to break up with me, which in her view makes it her fault that someone abandoned us. He realized later that he wasn't ready to stop having sex with me, IMO, not that he was a colossally indiscreet ass. The fact that he hurt my feelings too is beside the point.

I definitely relearned my lesson about keeping boyfriends away from my home life.

You guys are making me feel better, though. I can't believe some of your stories. What a bunch of maroons, leaving gems like you! And like Knittress' mom!

No FB stories yet, but a MySpace one. I can't believe people actually do that, although I have heard of it. StarGazer, how did it happen?

Skydiveaddict, I'm sorry you're still in pain. I hope you meet someone soon who soothes your soul.

My younger brother has dumped someone via FB. I watched it online, he didn't speak a word to me until I told him later I found it a bit appalling. He has always been a self-centered prat and we keep waiting for him to grow out of it.
