Ya know, women give polar opposite advice from a man does. Hmmmmmm. Makes ya wonder.

Sometimes she will say (even out of context) "my feelings haven't changed". And I will say I understand that and I'm not trying to get her to change her mind. We just need to discuss our daughter. She is very defensive.

 

In defense mode, people think about how they must be right instead of how they might be wrong. You'll make no progress while she is defensive--at least not in the right direction.

 

Saying out of context "my feelings haven't changed" is her internal dialog coming to the surface--this happens under stress. This might be what she is telling herself to hold on to her position. For my wife it was "you had ten years"--directed at me. She'd say it out of the blue and quietly--she was arguing with me in her head.
