airjordan Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I met this girl the other day, and she said to me that looks don't matter to woman. Is that true, what if the guy was really ugly and he didn't have a sense of style. So ugly and no style?
theBrokenMuse Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I met this girl the other day, and she said to me that looks don't matter to woman. I think she wasn't being entirely truthful. It's true that for *some* women, looks are not a top priority but there are plenty of extremely shallow females to be found.
Brady_to_Moss Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Of course looks matter. If your ugly and rich however...you can get a beautiful girl.

Author airjordan Posted July 4, 2010 Author Posted July 4, 2010 haha, true...this girl must be full of ****. She probably just doesn't want to sound shallow.
florence of suburbia Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I recently heard about a study they did with a large group of speed-daters. Something like twenty men and twenty women. At the very end of the session they interviewed both the men and the women about their top three choices. The women all felt strongly about the men they chose, but each woman placed different men in her top three. It wasn't that the women weren't picky, but they didn't share the same criteria for an "attractive" man. With the men, it was the opposite. Each one repeatedly named the same women in their top three.
MrNate Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Most def. Did you see the women going gaga over USMCHokie's pictures? Aside from that, whenever I see my friends (girls ones) stalk some dudes, they always say, 'ah he's cute'. Women are pretty visual. Women respond to the FLEX.
SoccerPlaya Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Yeah I think looks matter but I also think looks are completely subjective. Sometimes I'll think a guy is a dreamboat and my friends won't agree, or vice versa.
D-Lish Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Of course looks matter! What people find attractive aren't universally shared. What I find attractive is rarely shared by my gf's and vice-versa. You have to be attracted to someone in order to date them- it's silly to think otherwise.
SteveC80 Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Women are just as shallow or probably mroe then men they just use clever womenspeak to deny it insetad of admitting looks can overide allot of negatives Plus some women tend to judge a mans character on looks,i dotn know how many times a women was shocked a good looking guy comitted some crime, why do u think women get goofy hollywood crushes where they wanna marry somebody they dont know? some equate looks with character As a guy whos been extremely sucessful with women and been told im gorgeous[not bragging im trying to make a point] its soured me on women So many have used me as a status symbol and arm candy where i didnt treat the right and they stayed with me because of how i looked I dont know how many times married women/women in ltr hit on e and said they leae their boyfriends for me just because im hot not beause we had any connection Thres a small percentgae of us men who id bet 90% of women in realtionships would leave their man for just beause of how we look
xpaperxcutx Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Yes, looks matter, and this girl is lying between her teeth.
aerogurl87 Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 That girl straight lied to you. Of course looks matter to women. As much as some people want to pull the "oh it's what's on the inside that counts" line, everybody wants to be with someone who they find to be physically appealing to the eye.
Gero Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Plus some women tend to judge a mans character on looks,i dotn know how many times a women was shocked a good looking guy comitted some crime, why do u think women get goofy hollywood crushes where they wanna marry somebody they dont know? some equate looks with character I think this has a lot of truth to it. When girls get unexplainable crushes on actors and such it's based solely on looks. They do stuff like write down their name as Mrs. Pitt and such like that and make up this whole relationship in their heads based on the looks of someone. From my experience, when a guy thinks a female celebrity is hot, it's almost always a physical thing and they don't even try to manufacture a relationship in their own heads out of it.
Thermometer Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Looks matter, but I think in a different way than they do to men. Using myself as an example, my past boyfriends weren't guys I was immediately salivating over. However, getting to know them made them exponentially more physically attraction. Neither of them were shlumpy to begin with though...I wasn't repulsed by them or anything. They were just regular guys. However if a guy is really ugly, overweight or has no sense of style, I'm not really going to want to date him. I put effort into my appearance, so I'd expect a guy I date to at least show a little bit of effort as well.
turnera Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Women are just as shallow or probably mroe then men they just use clever womenspeak to deny it insetad of admitting looks can overide allot of negatives Not EVEN. Spoken from yet another man who has no clue how to get a women to like him. What do women look for? MARRIAGE MATERIAL. They are NOT looking for sex. Or for a guy they can brag about 'bagging' to their friends. They are looking for a guy who is WORTH MARRYING. Looks rate FAR less for women than they do for men.
USMCHokie Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Looks rate FAR less for women than they do for men. I would have to strongly disagree. Looks play an equally important role in initial impressions for both genders.

Youre talking to a guy whos been with a pretty high number of women and its mostly because of how i look
turnera Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Youre talking to a guy whos been with a pretty high number of women and its mostly because of how i look High number, huh? And how did that work out for you?
D-Lish Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I would have to strongly disagree. Looks play an equally important role in initial impressions for both genders. Agreed Chokie. Both men and women enjoy an attractive person equally. I assume that the same men accusing women of being shallow for not appreciating a man based on personality alone would be the first to whine about fat girls.
Thermometer Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I assume that the same men accusing women of being shallow for not appreciating a man based on personality alone would be the first to whine about fat girls. BINGO!
turnera Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Girls look at men in terms of whether they can become good marriage material - thus, looks play FAR less of a role than stability, maturity, and devotion. Guys look at women in terms of how much sex they can get; and if it turns into a relationship, fine. But first and foremost, sex with a sexy lady.

He could have all the money and stability in the world, he isn't going to get laid based on how much money he makes.

Guys look at women in terms of how much sex they can get; and if it turns into a relationship, fine. But first and foremost, sex with a sexy lady. This may be accurate for some women in the long run, but on first impressions, looks are all you have to go on. Therefore, for both men and women, looks are number one when making initial contact. It's absolutely impossible to assess a person's stability, maturity, or devotion based on initial visual impressions. That sort of thing comes later. Looks will get you in the door, but personality keeps you in the house...
Thermometer Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I care about being physically attracted to a guy. He could have all the money and stability in the world, he isn't going to get laid based on how much money he makes. Oh for sure! I'm not going to get with Donald Trump because he makes a lot of money. I'd rather barf. And I'm not going to get with Prince Harry because he's hot and a prince....he's kind of a man slut and I don't think that's attractive. Each woman has her own standards. That's so tough to believe, isn't it? Everyone here keeps generalizing like "Every woman does abc" or "Every guy does ABC"....well, no. Some people do that and some people don't.
D-Lish Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 And I'm not going to get with Prince Harry because he's hot and a prince....he's kind of a man slut and I don't think that's attractive. . And he's a "ginger":p
