Always have had trouble making decisions. I've read a lot on what i should be doing and know there are no right answers many times but i'm still paralyzed by them (big ones at least) and they affect my mental and physical health. fears of making the wrong choice end up paralyzing me until i do nothing, sometimes hurting me and others in the process.

How have others overcome this issue? I've started psycotherapy and have had about 5 sessions. I know its a long process but haven't felt much progress yet. All I feel like I'm doing is stating the problem over and over, which I'm aware of. i feel like less of a man not being able to be decisive and strong in my decision making. its time it stops if i only knew how to correct my issues.

thanks very much

there was a reply to this about going w/ my heart but then the reply was removed. did they do something wrong?

anyone who has any thoughts on decision making would be appreciated. it can really be debilitating to feel like you can't make a choice.

thank you

I know exactly what you're gong through and I struggle with this all the time. When I was single and confident it was a lot better, but lately I've been backsliding more and more.

My personal mission is to start small. Resolve to make small choices quickly and NO MATTER WHAT, stick with it. Over time I've found that I feel better about all decisions if I don't second guess once I make them. Even if I think I should have gone the other way, I stick with it.

Practice with what shirt to wear, what to eat for dinner, and what to do this weekend.

Give us some examples of decisions that are difficult to make.

What emotion do you feel most when trying to make a difficult decision?

Personally, I have a "educated guess" mindset when I don't know for sure. Don't over analyze things and most things will come together alright. Having said that if you have a history of failure you need to educate yourself a bit before making decisions.

Anxiety, pressure, panic, fear of making the wrong choice. It feels frantic and overwhelming.
