Not sure which part of Asia you're from but where I am from, we are in no way timid or passive! I speak my mind, I'm stubborn, I go for what I want and if I find something annoying, I have no problem voicing it out.

 

My siblings are the same, most of my close friends are the same as well. One of the reasons why I was attracted to my ex (he's Malay-Asian) was that he was not afraid to stand up for himself. He had a lot of confidence in himself and he still does.

I consider my dad a terrible and selfish Asian man. He is not responsible at all, having gambling issue and treating my mom very coldly. He never enter into my life even though we lived together in the past 22 years. He didn't respect my mom at all because he has a low self-esteem in front of my mom. My mom was more successful than him in any aspect. But this situation mades him more angry against my mom and take everything for granted.

 

And what happened next?

 

My mom committed suicide due to the depression and he was put into prison because of the corruption. All of these happened in 2 months.

 

Maybe I lost all my faith in Asian guys because what happened to my family?

That said, what your father did -- gambling, etc -- you can't blame the race. There are Caucasians that have the same attitude, coloured people too. You can't pass up on every Asian man just because of your father's attitude.

I don't know about this timid tag Asians get; the only one I've know who fit that profile was half Japanese/white and didn't look a bit Asian unless she had no eyeliner on. Even then, with spiral curly, strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes - you wouldn't have guessed. But she was a mess and her family was a mess and being that her father was American - none of the mess had to do with Asian culture or ethnicity.

 

Most of the Asian women I've known well ruled their relationships or often opted to be single quickly if the guy gave them any hassles. But then, they dated white guys so I have no idea if that had anything to do with it. The only difference I found was when they didn't like how the relationship was going, they didn't bother to let guy know why and see if he made changes or get into a drawn out drama episode before just fading on him.

 

I use to volunteer with Myanmar refugees. At first, they did seem rather timid in their relationships comparatively, but I quickly saw it was not as it seemed. Part of the group I helped with were women who came over to join their husbands and families that were already here. Many of the married ones had problems because their husbands had been met with another volunteer group specifically for men that was very fundie christian. They'd been advised to baby up their wives quickly to solidify their family unit. The women who were not cool with having a baby at that time had no issue whatsoever in seeking to abort the kid no matter what their husbands had to say about it.

I even put it to one that she be real sure because taking that kind of action could end her marriage. Her response was "He can find a different wife if he wants a kid now. If he wants me he will have to wait."

People in America and Canada seem to be pre-occupied with racism! I'm from Ireland, let me state that first and foremost.

Now, my preferences in men is: white with dark hair and blue eyes, and broad shoulders bit not stocky built. I just happen to be really attracted to guys like that. I ave never been attracted to any black man I have seen, except some black american celebrities. So the average black man on the street? I've never seen any of them attractive. Asian men? There's only guy I ever saw I was attracted to.

Am I racist? Hell no! I have preferences!!! I can't help what I'm attracted to!! So maybe Asian women like white men cos they're attracted to them, and not because they're denying their race or any crap like that. Everyone has a type, let it rest!

well im half chinese and half irish and in ireland where i am theirs not alot of asian guys to choose from . But if i had the choice i would choose an asian guy , i just prefer asian . It depends on youre type.
