USMCHokie Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Cool story brah Well, I can do the same thing, but I only take 54 seconds of rest. And then I do some deadliffs.
Star Gazer Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I did so many pushups today I hope I never do one again.

Star Gazer Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I don't know if that is really awesome...or really sad... It's AWESOME! I wanted some tzatziki reeeeeeally bad. So get this, I dropped and did 20 pushups, then bear crawled to the kitchen, then did 15 more pushups (I died, I'm exhausted from all the reps I did earlier today). And now I'm enjoying my reward.

terra Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 What's a bear crawl? and I just bought a chin up bar.. I can't do the full chin ups but not bad at the halfsies.. (arms at 90 degrees) I was reading on the internet that the halfsies are a waste of time, and not worth doing - is this true? How am I going to be able to do any?!

Where you bend over, get on all fours, and crawl like a bear...it's harder than you'd imagine... The pullup assist machine, which most gyms have, is probably the most effective way to work on pullups if you can't do any...but if you don't have gym access, Crossfit advocates the use of "kipping" to help people do pullups...as a Marine, I'm vehemently against it, but it's an option...Google or Youtube the "kipping pullup" to learn more about it...
daisymae Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 I can't do the full chin ups but not bad at the halfsies.. (arms at 90 degrees) I was reading on the internet that the halfsies are a waste of time, and not worth doing - is this true? How am I going to be able to do any?! I'm no chin up expert, but the fastest/most effective way I was able to get from being able to doing just a halfsie to being able to do at least one whole one was by working on negatives. I'd go to a park, and find some monkey bars with a ladder... then start at the top of the chin up, with my chin above the bar, and then SLOWLY lower myself down. Then I'd get up and do it again. I'd do it as many times as I could, and then I'd try to get as far up as I could the regular way. Wasn't too long before I was pulling myself up no problem. You might also try holding yourself at that halfway position for a few seconds before you let yourself down... when you do, try to pull yourself up... even if you don't move, don't let yourself down until after a few seconds. It might help you eventually get over that halfway point. Good luck!!
Nkognito Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 I've been following this sites program. http://hundredpushups.com/ I also use endomondo on my phone to track my walking/running. http://www.endomondo.com/
Joe Normal Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 You can do pushups until the cows come home and build up your triceps using weights, but the arm fat is fat. You have lose fat overall in order to have leaner arms. High intensity cardio and a healthy diet with less sugar and carbs and more fruits, veggies and protein will help you get leaner. Yep. Building muscles isn't how you lose fat, generally. You lose fat by taking in less calories via your mouth and burning off more calories via cardio exercises. You could do 500 pressups a day, but if you were eating 5000 calories of junk food, you'd still be fat.
