BS76 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I think its gross the way you miss use the word Pedophile. Nice! Just googled her age and when they started dating. It might help if you represent her age a bit better. She was 18 when the two started dating, hence no longer a teenager and of legal age to drink and vote in some jurisdictions. But I still find it gross that a 31 year old man would pursue an 18 year old girl, particularly one as blatantly immature as Megan Fox currently is, nevermind how immature she would have been at 18 years old. Why so bitter? Were you hoping he'd marry you instead? Or do you hate it that guys find younger women attractive? FYI envy isn't a virtue.
zengirl Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 FWIW, I agree with threebyfate that 18 and 31 are some icky age differences. 18 may be "legal" but it's still icky for 30-somethings to be pursuing them. A little bit off-put by the celebrity thing, since I think they can tend to live in a vacuum age/maturity wise to a degree, especially if they were famous/successful when young. And, though I'd likely not date a 37 year old now, at almost-26, I don't think a 24 year old and a 37 year old is scandalous.

That is the reason I made this thread

That is the reason I made this thread I would imagine they think it rather odd to date only 24 year olds or seek to date 24 year olds. Plenty of folks know a couple that has an age difference of a decade that they don't think down on. People who fuss about this tend to be fussing about the creepy guys who think the women their own age are too old or something and chase after solely much younger girls with little success, except with the broken ones with Daddy issues. I do find that a bit unhealthy, but so long as they aren't pestering me or reduced to trolling the high schools, I don't care what folks do.

No what I've witnessed first hand on this site is men being called creepy/gross/pedo just for dating a woman who are some arbitrary amount younger. I also think the term "creepy guys" is way over used. Seriously so what it if a guy likes dating 24 year olds and he happens to be 40. It's like none of your business. The laws of attraction will either allow it or not.
LucreziaBorgia Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Honestly, I think she finally married him because her star is fading fast. She's already been replaced by a new 'it' girl. She probably should have thought things through before mouthing off about a director who can (and apparently has) made her a basic non-entity.

I use creepy to mean "unhealthy in a way that I wouldn't want them around me" basically; it means "causing apprehension" or "annoyingly unpleasant." As I later said in the same post, I wouldn't care what they did, so long as they stayed far, far away from me. Doesn't mean I don't think its quite unhealthy. (This isn't the same as a 37 year old man happening to meet a 24 year old he fancies who likes him too.) Actively not wanting to date people at the same age you are demonstrates some kind of larger issue. Also, since I'm currently still in the age bracket (and unfortunately for me, in these cases, look even younger--damn my good genes), it does annoy me when much-older guys hit on me or even think they could be dating me. To me, 40 is still much older, from me at 25. It creeps me out. Hence, the word "creepy" being entirely appropriate.
