RandomCat Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 My boyfriend told me to pick out a ring this summer since he doesn't trust himself with a decision like that. Only problem is I'm just as bad at decisions as he is I've narrowed it down to two that I love equally but they're so different it's hard to choose. Why not take a friend with you, let him/her do a biofeedback test in the store (actually two tests, one for each ring), and get feedback from your own body/'higher mind' to help you decide? Google "muscle testing" to learn more or how it's done. I was trying to choose between 3 or 4 supplements the other day, and the clerk 'muscle tested' me, and it did clear things up. If nothing else, though, it will add some entertainment at the jewelry store...at least, it did at the health food store EDIT: You could maybe even do it at home, holding photos of each ring.

White Dove Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Congratulations on your engagement! I love the second ring! I do agree with CE, it's better to go to a jewellery shop and try on the rings. Same thing happened with a friend of mine, the ring she loved didn't look as good on her hand as it did in pics.

When I was shopping around for rings with my SO I ended up loving completely different rings than I thought I would based on pictures. Also, with a curved band like in the second ring it might be tough to find a matching wedding band. Not a huge deal but something you want to keep in mind, a wedding band might not sit evenly or comfortably on that ring. Edited June 29, 2010 by allina
threebyfate Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Another vote for trying the rings on. You may find that what you haven't considered, looks wonderful on your hand. You might even find that yellow gold suits your skin tone or that the cool tones of blue sapphires don't suit.

I would try them on but the problem is both jewelers are located really far away from me and travel won't be an option for a long time (hard to get off work). I have thought of the wedding band issue, matching isn't really an issue for me. I really appreciate the input.

I tried that actually. He said he didn't know either and he'd rather I chose ah well. I'll figure this out eventually.

They just don't have a picture of it yet. The site the picture is on is notoriously expensive. I already have a center stone, it's a blue sapphire.

It's a beautiful setting and will look really pretty with a sapphire.

When shopping for my engagement ring I was astonished by the ring I ended up with, it wasn't what I originally had in mind at all but I realized the style really suited me. BTW I chose a sapphire as well, I love that stone for a multitude of reasons. Personally? I'd go with ring number 2.
