So, I got a tarot card reading over the weekend. I've never done that kind of thing before, but did so just for giggles. One of the 1st things she told me was pretty amazing - "there is a man around you that sucks the life out of you. You met around the time another relationship ended and the last 2-3 years have been hard." She also said, quite correctly, that nothing in life has come easy for me and that I have everything I want, but that I wouldn't know happiness if it hit me in the face. So I said, how is it that I have everything I want if I have a man sucking the life out of me?

And she replied: "what a terrible world it would be if everyone who tried could suck the life out of you. When your chakras are in line, you can defend yourself, but you're all out of whack." Apparently my aura is red, brown, and gray. And apparently that's not good.

Much of the other stuff was a study in the patently obvious, but I thought this insight, and that she knew I was in graduate school ("doing some kind of training that will get me more money in a year or two") was interesting.

Anyway, apparently she wanted to sell me crystals to make it all better. I almost wish I believed in that kind of stuff, cause I feel like crap today.

To be honest I don't think her observtion was all that insightful. She probably tells all of her clients that "they have a man around who sucks the life out of them" because its often how women who consult her feel. Just general enough to cover everything but specific enough to allow you to make a connection in your own mind. I think the same is true of her statement about your attending graduate school. Tarot card readers are really dime store psychologists, but some are just charlatans who prey on people's superstitions. No amount of flipping cards will reveal anything to you about your life that you don't already know.

Shakz, I think your Avatar is the wagon full of rocks I've been carrying around this week...

but I think you're bang-on regarding the tarot reader... :)

Hi BL!!

Nice you update your situation.

Ok I do not believe in tarot card reading but I gave it a try around a month ago.

The woman described all my situation, she opend by saying: There is a man in your life that has a commitment with another woman, has a son or a daughter but there is no union he is just afraid of moving but he will within a year and that during that period of time we will continue with the relationship.

Of course my eyes opend like a plate; later during the session she told me several things about me having trouble with some legal documents regarding a property (which I in fact have), me making a trip on summer (which I have already paid) ; so I was amazed about everything she told me.

So it is fine you do not belive in that kind of stuff, I did not believed either but as she told me exactly what I wanted to hear I think there is a great possibility what she told me will happend and here I am hurting myself because I want too hard to belive.

Just take that lecture as a coincidence and please dont start making things and paying her money to avoid your problems and reach happiness it does not work like that, and I am sure you know it but sometimes it is too easy to engage in that stuff.

((((hugs)))

It's not amusing or ironic, she knows a sucker when she sees one. She is out to make a buck after all. I agree with shakz.

Oh, so you met my auntie! (not kidding)

I Know that there are as many different belief systems as there are people, but I, personally, believe that it is possible for some people to "know" things. If you believe the Bible, it clearly says that G-d gives some the gift of prophecy, word of knowledge, etc. There are also "counterfeit" gifts, used by people who do not get their gift from G-d. If a person's gift of prophecy or knowledge is from God, they will be 100% accurate, 100% of the time. People who get their gifts from a source other than G-d will be accurate part of the time - otherwise no one would believe them; they would not be able to deceive people into believing them and ultimately guiding them in the wrong path if there was not a significant amount of accuracy in what they say. Then of course there are those people whose main gift is in getting your money. The crystals won't help you or guide you or heal you. The Creator of the crystals can.

I'm glad it was a positive message for you. :)

I want to clarify the part I bolded. These people are not bad people, deliberately trying to decieve anyone. In most cases they believe they have a gift, and are trying to use it to help people. And some percentage of the time they do help people. You just have to be very careful who you listen to, and more careful who you believe.
