BubbleFreak Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 What makes you happy? How do you achieve it? How do you pick yourself up when you are feeling down?
Author BubbleFreak Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 Well I guess I'll answer my own question. I just called Lifeline and I'm glad I did.
carhill Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Glad to hear that. I did two things: First, I adopted a wonderful cat from our local SPCA. Second, I pick one project a day that I can finish and feel proud of. Today it was installing new irrigation timers. Last weekend it was pouring concrete for the patio. Doesn't matter. Pick one thing you enjoy and finish it. One step at a time. Each day is a new reason to live. Good luck
Username37 Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Listening to music. My goal right now is to listen to the songs that my ex and I shared and NOT associate the songs with her. I'm not letting her take my music away! Also surrounding myself with people who care about me. Friends and family are the most helpful people in the world. And of course, LoveShack. I can vent here and get answers from kind and smart people. Also here, I discover that some are in the same problem as I am. Helping others here is a great way to help myself. I'm taking life slow for now. Enjoy your life

I'm taking life slow for now. Enjoy your life I think it's fantastic you are moving forwards in your life and making it better step by step. I totally agree about having good friends, mine mean the world to me. what is lifeline It is a suicide and crisis hotline. I used to volunteer there, but today I decided to be on the other end of the line. I call them when I have no one else to talk to about a serious problem.
brokendream Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Listening to music (although it's tough now not to think of him when I hear most of the love songs on my iPod), writing in my gratitude journal, reading other peoples stories of how they coped and survied a breakup. It just takes time though....nothing can really make the pain fade but time. Things can mask it for a while but it'll come flooding back.

Sometimes I think you just have to feel it in its entirety before you can slowly start to heal.
teanoranges Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 I try to make it a point to see the good things around me (no matter how little they are). I try not to get down or think pessimistically.

Author BubbleFreak Posted June 26, 2010 Author Posted June 26, 2010 When you call them, what happens? They just listen to you, mainly, and try to support you through whatever you are going through.
