Gunny376 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Not sure which fourm to post this in ~ this one seems as good as any? A lot of Marines, Sailors, Airmen and Soliders are off fighting for you and I ~ and our country. A lot of them get "Dear John" letters from GF's but worse of all? Wives? Most every camp has the "Wall of Shame" where they post pictures and "Dear John" letters Wives they have children with. They're wives and GF's along with their children are all they have to keep hanging on? Its tough out there on the front lines ~ and granted its Hell on the Home Front to? Dear Abby has a "set-up" where you can write and or send a letter to a serviceman or woman. A "pen-pal" type thing ~ doing so? You as in the words of Elton John might just have saved a life tonight. As a retired Marine ~ I'm here to tell you that they need to know that all the hardships, suffering, blood, sweat and tears means something to someone! That what I'm out here doing, going through, dealing with ~ means somthing to someone ~ anyone! Contact the USO, whoever ~ whatever! Get those letters and cards going.

Do you have a link to the penpal site Gunny? I looked on the uso page but you can only put a message on the site itself ide rather do the penpal one more personal I think.

Your the "Man" Thank you for that. Divorce ~ breaking up is bad enough, but to be out there on "the wire" and getting a "Dear John" is much like getting kicked in the mouth by a mule or gut shot" For all to many their SO is all they've got and to keep them hanging on and half way sane ~ a lot of women simply cannot handle being married to someone in the military. One of the toughest jobs in the military? Is being married to someone in the military.
Green Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 When ever I'm having a bad day one of the things I say to myself is "At least I'm not in the military." My brother joined when he graduated HS. I warned him not to join and how hard/dangerouse it would be BUT HE DID ANYWAY. He got to see the world all right. All the places you would never want to see including Iraq. I would recomend to anyone contemplating Suicide SPEAK to someone. NOT GIVE UP. NEVER GIVE UP.

I saw the "World" alright! To include the First Gulf War, Panama, Gernada, Rwanda ,Haiti.................... Now I'm Gunny Highway ~ just not the Clint East ~ Hollyweird version? My point in this thread is that I've been "there" ~ and if your a spouse that wants to bail? At least wait to give him the "news" when he or she is back State-side.
