TinaniT Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 (Am I wrong for posting all my stuff on this particular board? It feels like home... I feel a little awkward elsewhere. Sorry, if so. Anyhow, I do htink it is related because affairs = stress. I mean, life means stress but anything against the normal paradigm or expectations can mean more stress.) How do you deal with your stress? Maybe some of us will get ideas, and certainly it can help us learn more about our fellow posters as people - and that can only help, I think, in avoiding animosity towards different people because of different viewpoints. Would love to know more about you guys, who have been so helpful. My releases are exercise (triathlon- swimming, biking, running), reading, and playing with my son. I try journaling on and off but have trouble sticking to it. Exercise helps me the most, for sure... feel good hormones. How about you?
MizFit Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 I work and I write...I spend time with my friends and I read a lot. My son is home for the summer so it's been great having him around for general harrassment purposes! I go to movies...I date...I find odd little movie houses and watch off the wall films from all sorts of times and countries. I come in here and I also walk every day.
Fallen Angel Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 I am a reader... when feeling really stressed I hit the book store (my favorite used book store recently closed damnit! *pouty face here*) and buy five or six new books. I am a candle lighter... when stressed i pick out a candle in a favorite relaxing scent and light it. I am a tub-soaker... when stressed I fill the tub with deliciously hot water, move my lit candle to the bathroom, take one of my new books, and soak until I run out of hot water. I am a writer.. when i am stressed I blog. I am a venter... when stressed I call my sweetheart, or my sister, or one of my girlfriends and vent. I am a helper... when stressed I find a extra hour or two spent volunterring for my favorite local charity usually releases tension and helps me regain perspective. I am a mother.. when i am stressed, I curl up with my youngest and watch Phineas and Ferb. (No one can be too bothered by the world while watching Phineas and Ferb with a cuddly, laughing six year old.) I am a cook.. (I didn't say a good cook ) .. when I am stressed I make something that takes a lot of time and preparation.. some comfort food that my family really enjoys... homemade lasagna full of fresh veggies and lots of drippy cheesy goodness, chicken and noodle soup (the kids love helping roll out and cut the noodles:)), or even something fun and simple like these little fried pies I make from canned pie filling (just roll out canned biscut dough and spoon some pie filling on top, fold in half and seal the edges with the tines of a fork.. fry in oil til browned and sprinkle with sugar or powdered sugar).. yummmy goodness that is sure to make you and your son smile! :)

I used to volunteer 8 hours (two days) a week at this homeless shelter, especially for battered women. I watched the kids. I stopped after I had my son. I should find a way to get back into volunteering.

I really miss having people around to cook for so I end up having friends in...it used to be fun when the kid was young to do that with. Enjoy every second with the kids while you can ladies...goes by far too fast...hmmmm

For me, the best way to deal with stress is to identify its cause and eliminate it. So...what is specifically stressing you out in your situation?

I understand where your coming from, this forum has been my home also:) Wow, I was soooo stressed for soooo long (extremely high consistant levels) that nothing seemed to work to pull me out of the very deep, dark pit. It seems as if the trauma has subsided a bit, or I'm just so numb that it is not recognized:confused:. Wanting to come out of this the goal is to loose 30lbs and 20 years...this will come to pass...I have been swimming, bicycling, running, organizing, writing, reading, talking with my friends that I lost touch with for over 30 years, cleaning, praying, enjoying my new friends, playing with my animals, eating better, cleansing through many various means and much, much more and not in this order. (Sounds like a sales pitch) My life needs to change as there is a great need to get healthy... My motto: accentuate the possitives and eliminate the negatives...
