AVR1962 Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 For whatever reason people's personal habits have always bothered me.....nail biting, knuckle cracking, nose picking. I consider myself a very patient person and work with children all the time. My husband though is a creature of habits....neck popping, nose picking, ankle popping, opening presents and envelopes with a knife, and anything else he picks up from his friends or coworkers. The other night at dinner with a male friend he starts cracking all these crude sex jokes and comments which at least when I am present he normally doesn't do but I am assuming that either his friend is like this and this is a common way for them to commuincate or he does this stuff when he's with the guys and I just happen to be there. This friend though loves to put his toothpicks behind his ear (something his wife hates), that night my husband grabbed a toothpick at home and put it behind his ear....something he has never done before. I asked why and he got all defensive, said I was too picky, that he was just going to use it and then had to do something else so he put it behind his ear. Really? Anyone have a take on this?
lolapalooza Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Well, I can't speak to the neck popping and nose picking. If these things bother you, why don't you ask him to not do them in front of you? Sounds like they've gotten to be bad habits. As far as him with his friends, I wonder why your husband can't decide who he is and who he wants to be for himself. Seems like he is very concerned with fitting in and being the cool guy, by copying other's behavior. Some people can't form their own personalities or thoughts/beliefs for some reason. They have to be told what to think, or to copy someone they think is cool.
george44 Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 He's a hick, your a sophisticate. Don't try to change him, it'll never work. Either accept him as he is or divorce him.
