Shakz Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Yes but a few random anecdotal examples of it being a problem doesn't make it this massive problem that you guys are making it out to be. You're making it sound like a widespread epidemic and that every guy abuses it and ignores his SO, which just isn't true. Some women just have a flat out aversion to porn in any form. True story: I dated a woman who told me up front that she hated porn and would not tolerate it. I had no problem with that because I didn't have any porn. Well, she came over one weekend to help me clean out my garage. There were a couple of boxes of old magazines (NatGeo, Omni, and such) and she asked if she could have them. I said sure. She calls me up and berates me for being a pervert because in one of the boxes was a Playboy from the eighties that I didn't even remember was in there. The funny thing is I think I actually bought it for an article! She dumped my drooling ass.
Author Woggle Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 Well, thank you for understanding. That's all I want -- for my thoughts and feelings on the matter to be respected and understood. I want guys to really think about it. If you really think about, and get down to the heart and soul level when you do, whatever decisions you make after that, I will also respect and do my best to understand. I respect your feelings but I wish you would understand where men are coming from. It feels like women are trying to emasculate us on every level and this is just another example of that. I know this sounds harsh but for some guys wacking off to an image is easier than dealing with women's drama.
Ruby Slippers Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 I know this sounds harsh but for some guys wacking off to an image is easier than dealing with women's drama. Sure. And curling up on the couch with my cat, a joint, and True Blood, then taking a bubble bath and wanking in the tub, is much easier and more comfortable than dealing with men's crap. I'll be getting started on these enticing plans in about 5 minutes. But at a certain point, I'm gonna have to get my butt off the couch if I want anything more than a distorted hero vampire story to make life fun. I might actually have to talk to a man again and consider that he might not be an ******* who is thinking about the meanest way and waiting for just the perfect moment to break my heart.

Despite the drama I went through in past relationships I eventually lucked out in love and found somebody worthy. You will probably do the same. At least now I realize women have hearts to break because there was a time I seriously doubted that.
Jersey Shortie Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Doesn't matter how new I am, they need to go away. It's not that important a topic, you ladies make it sound like a monumental problem when it's really, really not one. Engadet, this is really condesending and ignorant to sit there and tell others what you think their issues shouldn't and should be. You've just belittled every woman that ever had an issue with porn basicaly because *you* personally like porn and *thats* what matters to you most. If you don't consider it a big deal, then don't come in these topics. Let people discuss what they want to dicuss. Who the hell are you to tell people what needs to be talked about and not. And yes, it's a big deal. Because to many men in the technology age are pretty much slaves to porn. They defend it every time. And they love to spin it like it's aulterisic..like Woggles openning post. Porn also saves the hungry and makes men better men right? Makes men more intuned with women right? God men are predictable. Not in their respect for women, but in their epic defending of all things porn. As long as a man has a right to his porn, he feels like a man I guess. I respect your feelings but I wish you would understand where men are coming from. It feels like women are trying to emasculate us on every level and this is just another example of that. If you feel emasuclated because of opinions on porn, then you apparently tie part of yourself to porn. To your masculinity. And I don't think that's healthy Woogle. Further, if men need to degrade women to feel masculine, that's pathetic.
Author Woggle Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 I don't need to degrade women to feel masculine but it seems that some women feel the need to try and turn men into what they claim most women want and I think the staunch defense of porn is a backlash to that. It seems that everything men enjoy doing like sports or fancy electronics is looked down upon and demonized. I know a lot of women enjoy these things but they are associated with male interests and I know plenty of men in relationships that sleep on the couch for a week if they go to a sports game or get a new pair of headphones. Porn is also something that we know pisses off a lot of feminists so that is why men are so defensive.
