Taramere Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Ladies, it seems that some guys on LS have a certain perception about the series Sex And The City and why so many women enjoyed it. So here are my questions for those who enjoyed the series. Lets leave the movies out of it because that's debatable. 1.) What drew you to watch Sex And The City? I happened to catch it on tv one night years ago. They were dicussing anal sex, and I thought "that's unusual for a comedy". I didn't like the characters very much, but I found the script and storylines entertaining enough to keep watching. Also, all the shots of New York. 2.) What kept you watching? See above 3.) Did you watch it because of the sex only? No. 4.) Would you have enjoyed the series just as much without the sex scenes? On network TV it's aired sans sex scenes. No. 5.) Did you always agree with the 4 women and their actions and choices in the move? I thought the movie was hideous. It totally lacked the wit and sophistication of the tv series. The movie characters were exaggerated and twee versions of the tv ones. 4.) Did you ever masturbate to an episode of Sex And The City? Haha. No. I'm sure I've had sex while the show was on, but not by myself and not as a result of the show. It just happened to be on. 5.) Did you ever want to be with any of the male characters in the show? I'd probably fancy Mr Big if I met him in real life, but I'm more about that Australian actor in The Guardian. Can't remember his name just now. I prefer that laid back good natured look to the intense Latin style. Not the actors themselves but the characters they played. Don't remember any that stood out. 6.) Did Sex And The City change any of your perceptions or ideals about what life and relationships should be like? No. It's just standard sex and shopping stuff with a wittier than average script.
Mr White Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Let me ask guys a few questions: 1.How often do you you watch porn 2.Has porn ever ruined your relationship or thoughts of women in general negatively 3.Do you try to pull off the same sex acts you see in porn into you personal life 4.Have you ever degraded or called a women names in bed becasue of watching porn 1. Almost never while in relationship, probably every other day when not 2. No and no (not that I even understand how "Wow, she's hot" could be ruining my thoughts of women, but nevermind) 3. Um, is that a trick question??? All of the "same sex acts" have existed thousands of years before porn. I'm sure there are all sorts of crazy fetish porn out there, but 90% is just plain vanilla bangin'. 4. Genious (that's a no)
TaraMaiden Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 ...... I'm more about that Australian actor in The Guardian. Can't remember his name just now. I prefer that laid back good natured look to the intense Latin style. That would be Simon Baker I can see why the programme appeals to you, because of the Law interest. My partner - who is also studying law and is about to graduate - also initially loved the programme, but by series 2, he and I found it hard going after a while, and slightly unbelievable that someone so erudite, adept and skilled in law could be such a total and utter phukkup in his private life.... Conversely, I personally like him in 'The Mentalist, and find that kind of perception very interesting. He has an extraordinarily winning smile and an extremely attractive nature. I also like 'Lie to me' which is another programme of that genre... Wonder what that says about us... or just me, if you prefer....
CLC2008 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 The difference is that men don't run their lives based on porn while many women run their lives based on SATC. Porn is something that men wack off to and that is it. It has no deeper meaning while SATC is damn near a religion to some women. I love how you put down your own gender without even realizing it. :lmao:
Taramere Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 That would be Simon Baker I can see why the programme appeals to you, because of the Law interest. Er, well. I have to admit it appeals to me more because it contains a hunk of crinkle-eyed, no worries mate Aussie. He has that look about him that Heath Ledger, RIP, also had....and I've seen something similar in quite a lot of real life Aussie and Kiwi men. Very nice. Sorry for going off topic Jersey Girl.
Author Jersey Shortie Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 No worries Taramere. Are you from Australia? Not a fan of your Aussie guy because he is a bit too pretty for me but I am a huge fan of Hugh Jackman and Heath.
spookie Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 1.) What drew you to watch Sex And The City? Clothes and humor. 2.) What kept you watching? The friendships. I watched most of the series by myself when I was feeling down. It was just comforting in the same way Friends had been. 3.) Did you watch it because of the sex only? No 4.) Would you have enjoyed the series just as much without the sex scenes? On network TV it's aired sans sex scenes. Yes 5.) Did you always agree with the 4 women and their actions and choices in the move? No 4.) Did you ever masturbate to an episode of Sex And The City? No 5.) Did you ever want to be with any of the male characters in the show? Not the actors themselves but the characters they played. No 6.) Did Sex And The City change any of your perceptions or ideals about what life and relationships should be like? It made me feel better about being single

Not a fan of your Aussie guy because he is a bit too pretty for me but I am a huge fan of Hugh Jackman and Heath. Nooo. Spent some time there, and lived in NZ for a while when I was a kid. My first ever crush was on a boy in our neighbourhood who had that look about him. It's the eyes slanting down slightly at the corners, in a good humoured sort of way that melts me.
LucreziaBorgia Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 1.) What drew you to watch Sex And The City? 2.) What kept you watching? 3.) Did you watch it because of the sex only? 4.) Did Sex And The City change any of your perceptions or ideals about what life and relationships should be like? 1. A gay bff of mine was hooked on it big time, and when I found myself sick for a long period of time I started watching it from season 1 on his recommendation. 2. The storylines, the dialogue and the clothes. 3. No, but I sure did like watching Smith naked.:love: 4. No, probably not. I liked the humor behind the sex scenes. 5. No, sometimes I wanted to reach through the screen and slap Carrie 6. No, but I sometimes thought of Big, Steve, and Smith  7. Hell yes - see above. I adored Steve, wanted to bang Smith, and could definitely see myself settling down with Big 8. No, it is a TV show
Woggle Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I love how you put down your own gender without even realizing it. :lmao: How is that putting down my own gender?
Taramere Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 women are so easy and so weak, how many women can resist men or even bench the bar in your gym? wait, women depend on men to carry their bags and cry when they dont get their way, i dont fall for it Are you trying to quarrel with me in an attempt to be interesting and provocative? What shape are your eyes?
SadandConfusedWA Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 1.) What drew you to watch Sex And The City? Having a lot of free time on my hands. Being an insomniac. 2.) What kept you watching? I didn't watch every episode but I did watch most. Same reason why I joined LS and watch the Bachelor. I try to analyze human relationship's dynamics and am always looking for more "data". It also made me less depressed about being single. Of course it was fiction, but *some* of the situations could be applied to real life dating. 3.) Did you watch it because of the sex only? Sex was hideous and comical. 4.) Would you have enjoyed the series just as much without the sex scenes? On network TV it's aired sans sex scenes. Yes. 5.) Did you always agree with the 4 women and their actions and choices in the move? Not at all. 4.) Did you ever masturbate to an episode of Sex And The City? Uh, no! 5.) Did you ever want to be with any of the male characters in the show? Not the actors themselves but the characters they played. I thought Aidan was OK. 6.) Did Sex And The City change any of your perceptions or ideals about what life and relationships should be like? It made me feel better about being single.
lab_brat Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 LOL. I never really liked SATC - but i've never been into fashion or girly city life so that probably explains it. Frankly, i find most porn much more entertaining. Belladonna is my fave. Ooh, this is slightly off topic, but i have masturbated to Hugh Jackman as wolverine from Xmen.... hotness.
Stung Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Ooh, this is slightly off topic, but i have masturbated to Hugh Jackman as wolverine from Xmen.... hotness. Hasn't everybody?
Mr White Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Nooo. Spent some time there, and lived in NZ for a while when I was a kid. My first ever crush was on a boy in our neighbourhood who had that look about him. It's the eyes slanting down slightly at the corners, in a good humoured sort of way that melts me. My eyes slant down slightly the corners, and I'm very charming, dimply smile and all, but other than that I'm a forceful paternalistic pain in the azz that will drive you crazy no problem .
Mr White Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Ooh, this is slightly off topic, but i have masturbated to Hugh Jackman as wolverine from Xmen.... hotness. I'd hit that too .
Rhythmic Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Many men enjoyed The Sopranos. If you want to compare to media's, compare these two. A much much better show for men to compare sex in the city to would be Entourage instead of The Sopranos.
Taramere Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 My eyes slant down slightly the corners, and I'm very charming, dimply smile and all, but other than that I'm a forceful paternalistic pain in the azz that will drive you crazy no problem . Yikes on bikes! Downward slanting eyes or not....the words "forceful" and "paternalistic" should not be in the same sentence as "pain in the azz".
TaraMaiden Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 That dangerously mixes Civil Liberties with Indecency Laws....When worlds collide..... !
Author Jersey Shortie Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 much much better show for men to compare sex in the city to would be Entourage instead of The Sopranos I don't know what Entourage is about. Never watched it.
Mr White Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 That dangerously mixes Civil Liberties with Indecency Laws....When worlds collide..... ! haha, love you both . nice weekend everyone

So here are my questions for those who enjoyed the series. Lets leave the movies out of it because that's debatable. 1.) What drew you to watch Sex And The City? The pure girliness of it and how it is so true to life and really how us girls are together 2.) What kept you watching? The on screen connection with the girls and their love lives was so real to me 3.) Did you watch it because of the sex only? Not at all 4.) Would you have enjoyed the series just as much without the sex scenes? On network TV it's aired sans sex scenes. ... Totally I dont even like the sex scenes 5.) Did you always agree with the 4 women and their actions and choices in the move? No but I understood why they made them 4.) Did you ever masturbate to an episode of Sex And The City? no 5.) Did you ever want to be with any of the male characters in the show? Not the actors themselves but the characters they played..... yes Aiden, Big, Berger, Smith and I totally love Harry! It helped me so much in realising that what I have been through is quite common SATC is my all time favourite show, I have the boxed set and watch it regularly!!
