Can anyone give me advice what to do at home? I'm sick and actually dont come up with what stuff to do accept for watching movies...

Hey, when my ex broke up with me the first time round I bought a cheap set of canvases and watercolours and started doing a copy of one of my favourite paintings... v therapeutic and if you want it to turn out good you have to really concentrate, so it stops you wallowing (to an extent...).

Do you have a book you could get really engrossed in? Or a teach yourself book lying around, like teach yourself a language, or an instrument, or maybe a crossword puzzle or a jigsaw puzzle? I know these are old lady suggestions but they really do help keep your mind off stuff!

Hugs, I am also in by myself this evening, through choice as I need some alone time I guess but still scary :(

Thank you very much for suggestions. It really gave me ideas. I'm recently thinking about my ex all the time, so I really needed something to get him off my mind.

How are you? How do you feel? Yeah, I know that being on your own after break up is really scary :( I hardly manage to be alone, especially in the evenings...

It might sound kind of off the wall... but early in the year I was going through the very difficult "nightly conversations with her in my head" stage and a friend suggested I try to learn a new language. So I went out and bought one of those programs to learn Spanish.

I don't know that I could carry on a Spanish conversation really well now - but it is amazing how your thoughts cannot wander at all when you are trying to do that. It must demand the full focus of that same part of your brain. It was like flipping a switch. I found that when I started to think about it all a lot, I would just grab my laptop and start up the program.

Thanks, actually sounds like a great idea. I will try to get some other language to learn, cause i was actually learning one for him :)

What hobbies have you had in the past? What made YOU happy? Re-connect with it. Reading is alway an option, but as has been suggested in this thread using it in a positive way such as learning a new language is not a bad idea.

Go out, buy a gallon of paint and change the color of your bedroom or bathroom. Heck you might even bump into a big strapping man that will help you :)

Hang in there, post on LS if you need to. There are lots of us out there reading.

I like to write in my journal when I'm by myself and bored. Not only can I express my thoughts, but I can get all the thoughts about my ex out of my head and onto paper, where i can analyse them from a distance. It's amazing how much that can feel better. For me, when I have it on paper, it's no longer in my head, and it stays out. Have you seen Harry Potter? I have named my journal 'The Pensieve'...and that's just how it works.

I've also started writing letters - real letters - to my friends again. We have so much fun! Nothing better than receiving a letter from a good friend. It's like gossip that you can keep in your pocket :)

Not to mention that all my penpals knew my ex and I when we were a couple, so it's fun to trash talk him in letters and know it'll never get back to him. Secret girls' code, y'know?
