Explorer Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 So, for the past couple of months I've had a girlfriend. We moved rather quickly from dating to relationship, mostly under my direction, but with no regrets from either side. My feelings are starting to become stronger as we grow, but in a different manner from previous relationships. I've been passionately in-love before and it drives me wild with high's and low's but this is something entirely different. It's mild and mellow. Safe and content. It lacks extreme passion but I think that's for the best. It's calm and relaxed. The feeling for each other are there but very manageable. It's healthy, I guess? Has anyone ever had this before? Are these the type of relationships that have greater long-term potential than the passionate ones?

This is the type of love that can endure the struggles and disappointments that you will face as a couple. If you talk with couples who have made it long term and are still happy after many years of marriage they will describe their love as you have described.

We are pretty good- I much prefer this contentment to the highs and lows of "extreme love" that I have experienced before.

Did your love ever reach a peak and move downward or has it been steady?
