Jerry18 Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Girls, please provide ratings from 1-10 for a guy in his mid-20s regarding education, salary, and career. I always hear from girls that their boyfriends have a "great career..." but what does it actually mean? Suppose someone in his mid-20s (24-26) has the following qualifications... how would you rate him? -BS from Top 30 university -MS from Top 20 university -Associate at an investment bank -100K salary
Crazy Magnet Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I look for 1. finished university 2. employment in a career I do not care where the degree was obtained nor the salary. But I am not materialistic. I'm the kind of girl who's so cheap I mooched an old door out of someone's trash pile to turn it into a cool funky desk rather than prance down to West Elm and drop several hundred dollars. I'm 30. I expect to date a guy who is established in his career. Coming from a middle class socioeconomic background I would expect a man to be making 50,000+ to add to my salary which would make us quite comfortable. As long as me and my family (with children) would not have to struggle and could maintain the lifestyle I've always had (middle class) 50 or 100K wouldn't really matter. You want a number. Ummm.....9? But remember career is only one aspect of a man or woman.

carhill Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 College dropout, unemployed for 25 years, salary varies with mood. Is there a negative on your scale? I've made it my life's work to fly under the female Hoover radar beam and, barring one failure, have succeeded. IME, a 'great career' is anything the guy she's banging with glee is doing at the time. It could be neurosurgery and it could be dealing drugs. I've seen all kinds of 'great careers' described to me by women. Hope it works out
Ruby Slippers Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 -BS from Top 30 university -MS from Top 20 university -Associate at an investment bank -100K salary Don't care about any of it. Associate at investment bank would turn me off. I want a man who has principles, ethics, and compassion, not a pedigree and a bankroll. Employed and making enough money to support himself is good for me.
electricity Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 -BS from Top 30 university -MS from Top 20 university -Associate at an investment bank -100K salary Depends on what you studied for your BS/MS and how much you really care about your job. I'm particularly turned off by those who sell out their passions for a large paycheck. I know lots of people who did just that after college. While they're perfectly capable of finding solid relationships, I'm perfectly happy not having to hear about why they hate their jobs. Other than that, the education background sounds fine to me.
