For me, I think there are differences between hot girls and pretty ones.

Hot girls:

  • wear a lot of make-up
  • good boobs
  • usually dye their hair
  • dress like sluts
  • don't seem original
  • someone you would not show to your mother

Pretty girls:

  • may or may not wear make-up
  • may or may not have good boobs
  • usually don't dye their hair
  • no particular dress code
  • very original
  • usually has something special about the way she looks or smiles

Do you make the distinction?

By the way, I really like nerdy or geeky (but not fat) girls so that might be the reason why I'm not so attracted to hot ones.

I think hot in general infers lust and sex.

Beautiful and handsome suggest admiration, respect, attraction and appreciation.

Yeah, that's very true. Sometimes I might like a girl, but I don't admire her. The girls I've been the most attracted to are the ones who I admire and respect. For example, there's one girl who worked super hard on her project and I really liked her because that kind of work ethic is quite rare.

There is no difference when I use the terms. Both mean that I am physically attracted to that girl.

Hmm I know what you mean. For example, I find Megan Fox 'Hot' but don't see her as someone I'd get into a serious relationship with; just sexual.

On the other hand, I find Jennifer Love Hewitt Beautiful, and I could see myself in a more serious relationship with her.

Obviously this is going off extremely shallow look perception and the roles they've both played in films :p. Personalities could change that... Then again here I am being picky about two women any man would dream of dating :lmao:

Same for me, basically. I consider them one in the same.

There is a difference

First,

Beautiful > hot

Second,

Beautiful can be used to describe more things than the physical

Huge difference. Hot is sultry/sexy, beautiful is well...beautiful.

I agree with this. I've always felt that 'hot' denotes sexual attraction and not much else, while 'beautiful' is all-encompassing.

Edit: Engadget, you and I have the same exact number of posts right now! Twinsies! hahaha :)

Exactly, beautiful is a notch above because it's not only sexual, but the two can overlap, such as in tigressA here :p

Yeah we do, weird coincidence huh?

I don't really ever use the term "hot" to describe a woman...

To me, "beautiful" just IS, or it isn't. And it tends to endure.

"Hot" is an affectation -- it's something that's put overtop of the beautiful (or sometimes the not-quite-so-beautiful) to ramp up the lust component. Makeup, clothing, hair, etc.

Just my $0.02.

What does it mean if you have been called both "hot" and "beautiful" by the same guy? Just wondering.

Yeah, you and ever straight male that has breath. To me she is hot and beautiful, but, really, that is a enormously large understatement.

No arguments here about tigressA.

Maybe I'm strange, but I tend to use them interchangeable. I know most girls don't like to be called hot, so that would be how I describe them to guys. If I was telling them, I would say beautiful. They still mean the same to me though.

I've always associated "hot" with lust and animalistic attraction. Beautiful sounds more like your in awe of that person as a whole. From the way they look to the way they think, that's the difference to me.

I see beauty is descriptive of someone's natural looks. A beautiful woman will always look beautiful, even if sometimes to a lesser degree.

Hot is more about dress and make-up. An average looking woman may look hot one night.

Hot does not mean slutty imo.

Thanks, Engadget and Sage :o:love:

TX, I like your definition as well, it rings very true to me. A truly beautiful woman will look beautiful no matter what.

Hot to me just means personally appealing. Beautiful is an expression of idealism. In my penciled in opinion, one can be both. ;)

Yeah, I agree with this. Looking hot can be faked, being beautiful cannot. I see A LOT of "hot" girls at school, but when you look closely you can tell it's all just an illusion of makeup, hair, tanning, and usually skimpy clothes. There isn't any natural beauty to them. It's very easy for a woman to look "hot" with the right tools.
