colosseum Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 My girlfriend and I have decided to visit each other over summer before we both go abroad to opposite ends of the world for a year. The tickets have been booked; I leave tomorrow to her place for a week (and yes meet her parents), then she comes and hangs out with me for a few days. A few days ago, I sprained my ankle severely (grade 3?) and am still on crutches. By the looks of things, I'll be pretty useless for another week. She told me that she's been waiting for tomorrow for the whole summer because we miss each other a lot. But I don't want to be admitted as a patient to her home and be a dead weight to her and especially her parents; I'm on crutches, I couldn't help with dishes or ANYTHING! What kind of a first impression is that? I really would be useless, and we'd be very limited to our activities. That said, my girlfriend would not be happy if I opt to not show up tomorrow, crutches and incapacitation and all. Do I still go? Your advice and opinion would be SO appreciated.
VertexSquared Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I'd say go... there are many ways you could turn that injury to your advantage and make some humor out of it. Besides, I am sure you could still try to help out where you could -- I am sure that in itself would make a good impression, considering that you're injured.
