Why can't I realize that a hot guy is talking to me? Stupid social awkwardness

This has happened with 2 different guys in less than 2 months. First time it was at work and a couple of days ago it was at a gym. A guy will come up to me a start up a conversation, we will make small talk, and then that's it. No flirting and no asking about hanging out. Then a few days later an epiphany comes over me and I realize that the guy was hot. I feel so frustrated because I missed an opportunity.

 

When I see a guy I'm attracted to, I am not shy. I will approach him. However, I guess it throws me off when it's the other way around, when it's the guy that comes up to me instead. I don't know why this keeps happening. I'm so annoyed with myself!!

 

I wouldn't say that I'm hot, but I am "cute." I'm in physically good shape and considering that I am less than 12 months away from getting my MD, I like to think that I'm somewhat intelligent. But it's my social awkwardness when a guy comes up to me that ruins everything. I also wish that I would notice that he's attractive when he's talking to me instead of realizing it a couple of days later.

 

Any suggestions?
