Missy830 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Hi. I'm new here. I was wondering if you all could help me out. There's this guy who I work with who I really really like. He knows that I like him. Well, today in the breakroom this girl mentioned something about a girl who had an interview. And I just said yeah I saw her and how the guys in my department were reacting. Well, the guy I like sat right next to me and right in front of me he started talking about how excited he was that she would be working in his department. He didn't say he thought she was hot or anything. But, still it's just the whole thing and my friend thinks he did it on purpose. I don't know. Do guys do that sometimes when they know a girl likes them? I don't know if he just said it to be saying it or if he did on purpose.

They do it to shake up your sense of security, to try and make you chase after them harder. It gives them an ego boost. Guys like that tend to be manipulative and often turn out to be cheaters.
ParkRain Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I think the guy is judged too quickly by above posters. You say he knows that you like him, but how did he respond to this? With a rejection, or is there mutual interest? I can see three equally possible reasons straight away: 1. Intentional - he's trying to be subtle about not being interested in you. 2. Intentional - he's going for above-mentioned douchebag move. 3. Unintentional - You've overanalyzed the situation. He might know the new girl, be excited about having her as a colleague or simply trying to create a good atmosphere before a new co-worker arrives.

If the guy knows you like him and he intentionally went out of his way to sit down beside you and say this- he is most likely playing with your ego on purpose.
