ADF Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Before I lay out my theory about male jealousy, I want to issue the following disclaimer: YES, I KNOW THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS!!! Every situation is unique to some extent, so I am sure not every case conforms to my observations. My theory is that male jealousy has relatively little to to do with men's feelings of betrayal by women, and much more to do with their feelings of competition with other men. When men get jealous, it is usually because we do not want another man getting what we have come to regard as ours. Evidence: 1) The level of a man's attachment to a woman usually has little to do with how jealous he gets. In fact, men who are the biggest "players" often become the most enraged when a female partner fools around with another man. This suggests an intense rivalry with other men, rather than intense affection for the woman in question. 2) Male serial cheaters seem to take the greatest pleasure in cheating with women in relationships, as opposed to unattched women. This suggests a desire to demean and humiliate another man as a driving force in deciding who to cheat with. Am I onto something here?
2confused2feel Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 You could be, as everybody I cheated with had boyfriends. I lost a best friend over it because I hooked up with her when she had a boyfriend, and he found out. I'm not that way anymore though, I learned my lesson the hard way.
utterer of lies Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Am I onto something here? Yes. It's a social dominance thing. But that's nothing new
