Someone I know uses online dating. I call this a double standard. Agree?

When a woman messages him initally that he's not attracted to or compatible with, he ignores it. A common female friend says that he's "mean".

There are other times he exchanges a few emails with a woman and then she doesn't respond. The same female friend says the woman is under no obligation and did nothing wrong.

Took me a second to realize what you were referring to, but yes that is a double standard.

Where it stemmed from, I have no idea. Let me add another double standard to the pot since we are here.

If a guy rejects a girl (online) due to her looks, he's considered shallow. If a girl rejects a guy due to his looks, it's ok because she "isn't settling". ;)

Yeah, it really is.

Yes, that is a double standard of this female friend.

Geez. Yes, it's a double standard, but really, get over it. No one owes you (sorry, your friend) anything. The sooner you (he) deals with it the better.

It like when women you know will only set you up with their homely friends because they don't think your good looking enough for their hot friends.

I tend to distance myself from people that think like this.
