Butterflying Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 You have to be a SATC fan in order to really "get" the plot. Much of the history, that is needed to fully understand a movie, was omitted for obvious reasons. The repetetion would have made it boring for us long-time SATC followers. Given the fact that we have literally watched these women mature right before eyes over the years; we have to accept the limitations on where this story can go from this point on. They have husbands and children now so they can't be doing all the riduculous and insane things they did when they were younger and single. What I'd like to see is the SATC writers show that there is life after 50. I'd like to see Samantha finally get married. Then she could be the ring leader showing the girls to keep the "spice" in their marriages. SATC2 opened the door to how difficult it is getting adjusted to their new lives with marriges and families. It shouldn't be hard for them to show us more challenges (that never gets old) and how they overcome them (a happy ending). Growing with these women is not only endearing, but it's also neccesary. We're either going to accept them for the women they have aged gracefully into like me and every other real woman in this universe; or we're going to caste them aside because they're too old now and let Sookie (from Jersey Shore) lead us in TV and movies.
bluewolf17 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I saw it. I am a big SATC fan, and I was disapointed, but I sort of expected it. The first movie was okay, but this one really blew it. I did like the 80's flash backs, Aiden, Samantha's scenes, and the gay wedding, and I did love Carrie and Big's approach to being child free. I really enjoyed that they didn't give in to the pressure of having babies, when the clearly didn't really want them. Other than that? BOMB. I think what is was for me (as you noted) these ladies are older now, Charlotte, Miranda and Carrie are married. Charlotte and Miranda have kids. It's just boring to me now. And I hate to admit that, as I understand you have to grow up sometime, but the only one that really held the movie together was Samantha's character, becuase she was still exciting to watch. I didn't really feel bad for Charlotte. She has always been a bit boring-but most of the movie she just complains about her nanny and how hard it is to be a mom. Mirando quits her job (yah!) then where does her storyline go? She's got nothing. They should have worked in more Steve. I just hope SATC is done now. So I can remember them for what they were.
