This is gonna be so awesome! I'm done with grad school. Done done and DONE! Yeah, that's right - I'M DONE!!!!

I'm gonna have an awesome job. I'm gonna have a nice apartment in a 1920's building (I love these!) without a roommate. I'm gonna keep practicing Aikido under a 6th dan Shidoin straight from Japan. There are so many triathlons in CA and my training for an Ironman is gonna start in October and the weather is nice all year long so I'll be able to do it outdoors. I'll be able to get up at 5:30AM and run on the beach! I'm gonna have a car (finally! Didn't need one here...) - makes things a lot easier. I am gonna join a running group to make new friends and meet nice/shy/sporty girls. I will ask these girls out on dates like a picnic on the beach or a hike in a nature park near the city or go to check out this little hole-in-the-wall sushi place in Little Tokyo. Then, after a while, I will invite a special girl to my nice place and cook for her using these awesome fresh California ingredients and the freshest of the fresh seafood. And she's gonna love it, and I'm gonna love it that she loves it.

I am gonna continue to walk down the streets with a big kind smile on my face :D.

Just wanted to share here some excitement :)

I thought about that and in view of so many daunting posts recently where people say that everything is hopeless I decided to take a different route :)

Ahhh, I remember the days prior to moving to LA. T'was an exciting time.

Where are you finding a 1920's building near the beach though?

Doesn't have to be close to the beach. I'm willing to drive there once in a while. Hell if not the beach then at least Griffith Park and there are some 1920's buildings in Los Feliz.

Definitely a huge milestone you have earned. This is a time you will always remember, lots of changes ahead.

Congrats!

All my friends that live in LA say this.

Actually you are right compared to all the "woe is me posts" this is actually a nice change.

Is because it takes forever to go anywhere. To go to the beach is about one hour drive from where I live same as from Los Feliz.

Sure, and you'll be closer to Runyon Canyon and Mulholland that way! :)

But you do know how far the beach is from Loz Feliz with traffic, right?

:) Real men do not fall into this category. They have conquered time long ago and the make time if they need it :).

LA is going to eat this kid alive. :(

 Keep the car well-maintained, and be prepared to spend a lot of time in it - just in case!

:lmao: I was thinking the same thing.

It's cute (I mean that!) to see the enthusiasm, but the let down is gonna be huge...

LA isn't that bad, people!

Come on, it's not like I expect something extraordinary here. Which out of the things I've listed do you find unachievable? Huh? :)

Why do you have to be a downer?

Even at 5:30AM :)?

Nobody that lives in Glendale goes to run at the beach at 5am. That is like living in NY and saying you'll go for breakfast at the NJ shore.

I know. I didn't want to piss on his party, but the whole country bumpkin attitude worries me.

No one says they are excited to move to LA anymore, since everyone is busy moving OUT. lol

I can still do it during the weekends. Hell, even if nobody's doing it doesn't mean that I can't do it :) Yes, I may find out that it takes a long time to get to the beach even at 5:00AM but I refuse to assume that from the get-go and never try! :)

Unachievable? Living in LF and having even semi-regular runs on the beach. That's all.

The rest is very typical moving-to-LA excitement. Over time you'll realize that most of it is too much of a hassle, and you'll actually find yourself wanting to stay within a 4 mile radius (if that), other than commuting to work.

Do you have a job yet? If so, I'd recommend living somewhat close to it, because the commute is what drives people batty. :)

Why are you focusing on me, and not the others who are being realistic? Get off my back, PG. It's annoying.
