highlyevolved Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 (edited) Someone asked me if my relationship was official. I didn't really know how to answer. We've been "seeing each other" for 3 months or so. We stay over at each others houses, I've met his family and calls me "baby". But we haven't really said to each other the whole boyfriend thing. I think at the start I mentioned it and he said "happy with how things were going now" so I haven't pressed the issue but do you think after 3 months of "hanging out" that constitutes "officialness". It's not like we're seeing anyone else. Should I bring this up to him? Is the title necessary? A part of me wants it because it implies security, assurance and commitment. But at the same time I don't want to create any awkwardness between us. How strong does a relationship have to be before it's official? Edited May 25, 2010 by highlyevolved

I have learnt in the past not to assume anything as lots of guys will keep going for as long as possible without the "official" title. My guy asked me after a month if i would be his gf via text msg hahaha. Now he always refers to me as his gf and its been about 2wks since then. Ive had many longer r/ships were the guy said nothing and then once i pushed it with what we are that i found out we werent official at all. It is a good sign you have met his family though, maybe casually mention what your friend asked you and see what he says?
Green Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 I just had the talk with my current gf one day. It went something like this "So you are my gf and I am your bf and even though we might not change our facebook status right away we will not be dating other people other then each other..." and there you have it... eventualy we did the facebook thing
