2sure Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I was fine with everything until Applebees. Isnt that a place you go when your children are so mishaved there is nowhere else you can dine acceptably? I took my daughter there when she was still spilling stuff.
Rearden Metal Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I'm on speed read, quick reply mode so I'll just say: If he said Chili's, he'd be onto something. Honey Chipotle Crispers with giant Margaritas sounds f*(king AWESOME to me. Oh, and Ironman II was actually surprisingly decent. The guy is a sappy douche, though!
tincanman99 Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 ok, its over the top. I would never say or write this stuff. It makes me want to gag though in my experience Europeans and Latinas seem to like this stuff. Just not Americans. So here is the question, what do you like a guy to do? Explain further?
Lakeside_runner Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 It makes me want to gag though in my experience Europeans and Latinas seem to like this stuff. Just not Americans. Trust me. They don't...
Rearden Metal Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Ok just quick read it. My question: Is it as unattractive to you girls when us guys fight over jealous little nothings on the internets? Probably rhetorical.
CLC2008 Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Bleh. The "lovey dovey smookie" texts is the same as this except it's the girl whose over the top towards the guy: http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/how-to-lose-a-guy-in-10-days-2003/de189f71afa7d8ea7922de189f71afa7d8ea7922-30521229568
xpaperxcutx Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 All I am saying is that this is an attention seeking thread if I've ever seen one. Well, normally, most of Marsles posts comes off as sensible and reasonable. Not that I'm going to accuse her of anything. I was fine with everything until Applebees. Isnt that a place you go when your children are so mishaved there is nowhere else you can dine acceptably? I took my daughter there when she was still spilling stuff. Lol. Like McDs and ordering the kids meals. Last time I was at Applebees, I was 15 and my friends all got together for her birthday, unfortunately services and palate were lackadaisical. M, so I assume that this guy is getting on your nerves. Have you told him anything to quit with the messages? Because if he has kept messaging you after you have said no, his actions would now be bordering on harrassment.
Star Gazer Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 First, I really don't think that Marsle is attention seeking. Not at all. She's merely venting, and... ...I totally agree with her. If I received messages like that, I too would be doing this: , and yet also wondering if my reaction was normal, or if I should be feeling something different. As for the model comments, I'm pretty sure that he's the one calling her a model (being overly complimentary), and it's that over-the-top stuff that makes her uncomfortable. I don't blame her. Re: Applebee's and Olive Garden, at her age I'm surprised that such establishments are off-putting.
Author marsle85 Posted May 25, 2010 Author Posted May 25, 2010 Heh, you mean me? I was teasing you based on your most recent post. This post really comes off as attention seeking.... And the threads leading up to this one, doesn't help her case. With all due respect, of course. No wayy! I'm NOT a model, haha. My annoyance has stemmed from these very jokes (like insinuating i'm a model). The purpose of my thread was to gauge other women's reaction to such comments- and recognize if i am being too picky. Luckily, men and women alike feel the same. It's a hard situation. We started off as friends, so rejecting him simulatenously throws off the balance of our friendship. Most of my indifference/lack of proaction is because I'm concerned I'll hurt his feelings. In effect, I understand I'm drawing it out... I'm not perfect, but my motivation to start this thread was a substantial one. I don't cat fight. I think comments like those provided by D-Lish and Erica are unnecessarily confrontative and pointless. The thread exists, and has gathered a significant amount of serious posters... clearly men and women are relating to it, for which I'm glad. I'm sorry you both feel that way. I don't want to waste your time, and most importantly prefer to collect responses from interested posters. Feel free to discontinue responses, with all due respect. So here is the question, what do you like a guy to do? Explain further? I would love if if he took me to a small, hidden restaurant... mmm for some sushi The chain restaurant scene is reserved for families, and catching a bite to eat before you catch a flick at the cinema nearby, or something. I don't go home bragging to my friends: "And thennn, we went to Friendly's..." It does NOT have to be expensive! Just quieter, a little more romantic and less commercial. Well, normally, most of Marsles posts comes off as sensible and reasonable. Not that I'm going to accuse her of anything Thank you! Good to hear, and likewise girl.
Star Gazer Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Nice guys get the short end of the stick How so? BF is a nice guy in many ways. Am I the short end of the stick?

Lakeside_runner Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 any, ANY, chain restaurant for a date is a huge NO. The choice of the place says something about the guy doesn't it? The choice of the place, the effort that he has put into finding it. One of the things I'm looking forward to in LA is "Little Tokyo" with its little sushi bars. If I meet someone in LA (and I hope to!) I'm gonna be definitely taking her there!

txsilkysmoothe Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I don't think you are seeking attention, either. I do think you need to be straight up with this guy. It's the most respectful thing to do. You know it's not going anywhere. I like mushy but not corny. I can only tolerate a small degree of cornball in a man. It totally affects his attractiveness.
Gold Pile Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 OP, I meant to send all those texts to my hot cousin.
Trimmer Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 applebees i agree, but i love olive garden for dates guess im the only one:p(well besides kendra wilkinson) Ouch! Two strikes in one sentence! ( j/k... well, kinda... )
legallyblonde289 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Ouch! Two strikes in one sentence! ( j/k... well, kinda... ) haha what can i say im a cheap date:p
MrNate Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 haha what can i say im a cheap date:p Olive Garden is pretty tasty. I can't help but wonder what kind of dates some of these people go on. Whatever they are, they sound mighty expensive.

Star Gazer Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 any, ANY, chain restaurant for a date is a huge NO. I really CANNOT agree. It depends entirely on your place in life, and the chain in question. I can't imagine why someone in their early 20's would be put off by being taken to PF Changs or Macaroni Grill, or even Chili's or TGIFs. I went to places like that in college all the time, and would feel like the biggest snob if I felt they were not date worthy. Nor would I in my 30's be put off by being taken to Ruth Chris, Morton's, or Houston's.

I went to places like that in college all the time, and would feel like the biggest snob if I felt they were not date worthy. I'm not put off by going to a chain restaurant, but I am put off by a lot of the processed food they serve at some of the more popular ones. Last time I ate at Macaroni Grill (earlier this month), I couldn't even manage to eat half my order because they dump so much sodium in their food that it tastes nasty to me. Olive Garden's food tastes super salty to me, too. Applebee's and TGIF food tend to give me a stomach ache, so I always end up ordering a salad, which I can make at home for 1/4 the price. There are some chain restaurants I like, but overall, I'd much rather go to a cheap-o mom & pop diner with better fresh food.

That's all fine and good, but to somehow cast blame on your date for taking you there as though it's low class...? I mean, really?
