MrNate Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 We all know how skinny, proportional women usually go in lines of what is considered hot. Personally, however, I think curvy, proportional women can be just as hot. There is something yummy about women with some meat on their bones. While there is nothing wrong with the conventional 'hot' woman, there's certainly nothing wrong with: This: http://i.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/00650/news-graphics-2007-_650679a.jpg or this: http://www.famemagazine.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/curvy-kate.jpg All I'm saying is, there's nothing wrong with a woman who has a bit of curves in her, and I'm personally a fan. Maybe it has part to do with because there's more to grab:cool:. Just because she isn't too skinny or super toned, doesn't mean she can't be super sexy..or maybe it's just me? Anyone else think the same?
White Flower Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 The series of Venus/Mars books by Dr John Gray point out that men prefer their opposites sexually. Men are hard and muscular wheras women are soft. It sounds very basic, but so true. And as men age, they tend to like larger women. Go figure, but I think we should pay attention to them; they've got some experience behind them.

Funny, my Rubenesque cousin married a skinny man who dumped a skinny girl for her. He said he loved larger women because he always felt like he was going to start a fire with the skinny ones!
sagetalk Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Curvy is one thing, which is very attractive. Overweight and doesn't take care of herself is completely different. The women in your photos would not be turned down by me based on looks.

I do think curvy women get enough love but they don't get enough support in the media. But look all around, curvy women got some hot guys hangin' all over 'em!

The women in your photos would not be turned down by me based on looks. I agree. Isn't the curviness due to their hips. And aren't larger hips something that is generally predestined by their genes? I'm just saying that most girls like the pictures of above would not be turned down because A)They take care of themselves and B)they are still feminine. Essentially it boils down to the apple or the pear. Men are attracted to the pear, not the apple. (See below) http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2007/08/01/health/adam/19265.jpg

Toki Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 A distinction has to be made here, Curvy women can be considered every bit as hot as your typical rail thin types, however there's a lot of women who claim to be curvy, but are just fat... and then claim guys don't like curvy women.
TheBigQuestion Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 From what I've seen on OkCupid, a lot of women have a hard time distinguishing between "curvy" and "overweight." If you've used OkCupid, you know there's a collection of information on the right hand side of every member profile page, and one of the things it asks the person to list is "Body Type," which does not have to be filled out if one does not desire it. Women are extremely likely to call themselves "curvy" despite being 25-30+ lbs overweight, and despite their being other possible descriptions (skinny, average, overweight, obese, etc). I've seen it on facebook too when girls I am friends with join groups and pages like "Curvy girls are better," yet both of those girls are borderline obese. The moral of the story is, I'd say most guys are DEFINITELY into curvy women more so than rail thin women. It's just that a lot of people don't seem to understand what curvy is. Just as an example, Kim Kardashian is curvy, Rosey O'Donnell is not.
SilentVoice Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 I am pretty sure curvy women don't have a problem getting men.Have any of you seen Ashley Grant in the vs commercial,my word. I hope I am getting her name right but I am pretty sure. It is the chunky girls who claim to be curvy\thick who has the problem. I really don't understand why women don't embrace their size. It is so unbecoming when women , on social network sites, claim to be things like above average when they are actually obese. I see no reason to lie you either love yourself where you at or love yourself while changing for the better.
rakhana Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Umm huh? The women in in the OP must be a US size 8-10 (if that...). I seriously doubt these women are crying themselves to sleep over the dearth of options. As for embracing my size, it doesn't matter one iota what you've labelled yourself as everyone can't seem to find a general consensus on what's considered "curvy" or just plain "fat". On POF they have two options for us fatties: a few lbs overweight, and bbw. Since I'm 5'11 and about a size 14/18, a few lbs overweight is an understatement. But since I put BBW, I've met up with guys who'll say "well you're not a bbw you're just curvy." All this nitpicking over a woman's looks and body type makes me want to start a fire.

WOW I must have been really tired when I wrote this but I meant Ashley Grahem from the lane byrant commercial.

OceanTropic Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) I agree that curvy women can be beautiful, but if a curvy woman has trouble finding a man, and her body image really brings down her confidence, then GO TO THE GYM. Simple as that. If something bothers a woman, and something CAN be done about it, then I don't understand why women sit at home and whine about it. Edited May 24, 2010 by OceanTropic
Ihavenoidea Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) curvy women get plenty of love. The problem is a lot of women think they are curvy when in fact they are fat. Theres a big difference in curvy and being fat. When I opened the pics I was surprised because to me they looked normal. Too me the word curvy gets a bad name because so many people who are fat use it to describe themselves. I've almost come to assume when someone says they are curvy, they are over weight. I agree with silentvoice completely Edited May 24, 2010 by Ihavenoidea

St. Nick Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Uh, right. Those women ARE skinny. The first woman is Nigella Lawson. Do a google image search of her and you'll see she's anything but skinny.

I seriously doubt these women are crying themselves to sleep over the dearth of options. The OP's point wasn't that these women were fat or overweight, just that they weren't skinny. And a US size 8/10 is NOT skinny,
