lonely without him Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I was reunited with my high school sweetheart after 20 years of no contact in November of 2008. He came looking for me and it happened at a good time when I needed someone to talk to to help me get thru my mothers terminal illness. I had always thought about him throughout the years and never figured that I would ever hear from him again. It just happened that he was in the process of divorcing his wife and had a girlfriend at the time. He told me he had thought about me alot thru the years and had been looking for me for some time. We live in different states and I still live in our home town where his family lives. We have contact thru email and texting. He does come up to visit his family every once in a while. I never lost my feelings for him and I think my love for him is why I never stayed in a serious relationship after I got divorced from a different man. I have realized that this man truely makes me feel special in so many ways and I have told him that I care alot about him. I have not come out and told him that I am still in love with him. Some of his texts make me feel like there was a reason he looked for me and not to just see how I was doing. He has told me that he cares about me and is cautious when he talks about his home life (especially if his kids are around). He went thru a nasty divorce last year and his ex threatens him with his kids. My question is, does he love me too and just as afraid to come out and admit it right now or am I just looking thru rose colored glasses? I really do love this man and have never felt the way I do about him towards any other guy. What should I do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm better with writing than speaking sit down put all your thoughts on an email and press send. What can it hurt if you truly love this man why would you go another second without him. People are too pridefull and afraid of rejection to speak up. I can tell you first hand that there may come a day when its too late and you will be angry at yourself for never saying how you felt. I am having a hard time figuring this all out there are 2 people who are so madly in love but they never do anything about it, time passes you meet new people and you spend the next 20 yrs married to someone you love but your heart always belongs to someone else. Don't waste another minute if he doesn't feel the same at least you know you tried and if he does then your story can be a happy ending he found you, now the ball is in your court...

jenifer1972 Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 He undoubtedly wants to rekindle what you two once had. Just remember though, when we are young we really see life through naive rose tinted glasses, and when you really get to know him now, it may not live up to the fantasy you have built in your mind for 20 years. It might, but if it doesn't, well that is a real let down, so go slow and keep your eyes open.
