So this is my 3rd date with this 21 year old woman. I'm 23. We talked about going out to dinner then seeing a movie. It is now 2 hours before the date.

1 hour ago She texted me "What movie?"

Me "Nightmare on elmstreet"

Her "no... too scary"

me "dont worry I'll let you cuddle with me"

Her "robin hood?"

Me "no scary one"

Her "no too scary I'll have nightmares

Me "I'll let you pick the movie next time"

Her "I really dont like scary movies though. Not like being scared. Sorry..."

What the F*^()? At our age shouldn't you be able to go out and see a scary movie? I want to makeout during the movie and figured a scary one gives us a good excuse.

I offered for her to pick the next one is that not enough compromise? AM I being a pushover if I go see the other movie? Input please....?

Some people just don't like scary movies, get over it.

i absolutely HATE scary movies. my ex used to try and force me and it made me miserable. i would never go see one in a theater even if i was head over heels for the guy because they give me nightmares for days and i wouldnt be able to sleep. this early on its probably best to just respect her wishes on this one.

Pretty much.

Besides, even though I don't mind scary movies, the gore, violence, loud noises, and screaming don't exactly set the mood for romance for me. I've never felt the desire to cuddle or make out during a scary movie.

I mean, "Oh look, she's screaming in an incredibly loud, high-pitched voice as she's being slashed and having her insides ripped out! KISS ME, darling! "

I thought that movie dates sucked anyway as a general consensus? Taker her to the park, make out in a stand of trees, way hotter.

Forgot to add...

I don't think you're being a pushover if you go see the other movie instead of Nightmare on Elm Street. That's a fair compromise, IMO. How would you feel if she insisted on seeing some dumb, boring chick flick because she thought a romantic comedy is a great excuse for making out? How would you feel if she kept insisting after you said you don't like those kinds of movies?

If I were you, I'd compromise and see something you both can enjoy, at least to some extent. Pushing her to see Nightmare on Elm Street could make her uncomfortable, and she's not going to want to make out with you or enjoy herself if she didn't even want to be there in the first place.

OP,

Nightmare isn't just a scary movie, it's a gore/sadism movie.

I can't watch movies like that either, I don't blame your gf for not wanting to see it.

hmm k. I'll go to robin hood. Damn women. :p

Ummm... she insisted on not seeing scary movie. The first time you said 'Come on, let's do it' it's fine but if you keep pushing her to see Freddy Kruger well - she'll definitely feel uncomfortable with it.

I'm with Rorschach - movie dates suck...

I'm much older and I can't watch scary movies. I find them very unsettling. Please take her seriously, especially if you want to make out. Let her choose the movie or suggest a different movie.

Yeah. I'll go see what she wants to. Wasn't trying to push her I thought she might have been joking but it definitely appears she isn't. I can struggle through Russel Crow's acting.

When I was single and lived alone, I never, never, ever watched scary movies as they made me too unsettled. Now that I am married I love to watch them late at night with my hubby because he is there.

Most so called scary films are not scary. They're just rubbish.

Duddde! Some people REALLY just DON'T enjoy scary movies. If I force my friend to watch one with me, she'll have nightmares when she sleeps over! Plus, doesn't matter what you watch- she'll make out with you.

I love when the OP responds with "yeah, you're right I'll do this instead" but posters keep responding to the original situation.

If you wanted to make out w/her, then you should have rented some crap like "sleepless in Seattle" and watch it @ your place.
