Heartbroken098 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 hey guys, just wondering how long it took for you guys to move on from a relationship (when thinking about the memories dont hurt anymore and you can function again and your thoughts aren't always consumed of your ex).. i'm still having a really hard time moving on and i feel like i'm constantly thinking about him.. so how long did it take you guys? and what did you do to get there? Thanks!
sandiego Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 A LOT of posters here can relate to what you're going through (including me). My situation was a bit complicated. My ex broke up with me back in early October (she also moved out of State). I felt pretty much over her after about 3 months of pining over her (and after I began dating a cool girl). In Feb., we got back together for a month LDR. She broke up with me again late Feb. March and April....sucked! I started feeling better this month (May). So it seems three months can do wonders. However, it probably depends on how much you keep in contact. I would say that 3 months could be sufficient with full NC. The agony, pining, grief and far less severe, at least or me. But I don't know....it could take more or less time. I get pretty attached emtionally, and I feel that maybe I hold on and hurt more than the average person (which might not at all be the case). After 7 months and 2 breakups, I feel pretty good. Still think of her from time to time, but it's MUCH better. It's such a great feeling to know you're moving on, getting over it, and really feel it. You'll get there, trust me. And it will feel light, easy, calm, and liberating. Hang in there! SD
GrayClouds Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Everyone heals at a different pace depending on the length of the relationship and the depth of the love. Though if your still healing longer then the relationship itself then it is not longer grieving the relationship but something else holding you back. Take comfort it sound like you are getting there, keep at it.
Entitled Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Like others have said, it's different with every individual. But don't feel discouraged or anything, you will get through this. I'm also going through a rough time, just keep yourself busy, do new things, get out there, hang out with friends and family, and soon you will see that it gets easier. I really hope the best for you. Be strong.
