niko1999 Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 Does anyone here believe in the Freaudian idea of dreams being our inner most wishes? Twice this week I have had dreams of me and Justin being married, this morning, I had the second dream, and I even saw our honeymoon(some really cool tropical place:). And I had a dream that I had a baby, a little girl. And it was Justins. And the weird thing was, I dreamed about giving BIRTH, but obvoiusly felt no pain. Hmmmmm. Aw well. Maybe my dreams are telling me something, wishful thinking perhaps?

I have noticed that my dreams sometimes have fulfillment of my wishes in them, but it's rarer than just random images from my daily life. I doubt if you need a dream to tell you that marrying your lover, vacationing on a tropical island or giving birth painelssly would be pleasant.

yes Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 i think dreams can reveal something. if you dream of a certain situation and it's very pleasant or painful - well, you may not have realized before how you'd feel about it, and having the dream will make you think twice about it in your waking state. i don't see dreams as predictions, but i do pay attention to them. i always get upset if i have a pleasant dream about an ex i was hoping i was over, for example. smth like that, -yes

Tony - I just read up on Jung's idea of synchronicity (http://skepdic.com/jung.html) and boy did it give me a laugh! Carl was just as whacked out as his buddy Sigmund! To the poster - I hope you and Justin fulfill your dreams. Just make sure he is having approximately the same dreams first!

The brain builds up memories and worries and wishes and stress and these things pile on top of each other and overlap and fill the brain with so much mush that the only way to stay healthy and not have your brain implode from all the memory and emotional storage is to take a mental dump and that is what dreams are -- brain feces! That's my theory and I'm stickin' with it!

I can admit I've had a few dreams in my life which were 'symbolic' in nature.....but did represent something I was pondering. Most of the time though...I think dreams are just dreams.
