kuma Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Has anyone seen any good movies lately? My H has Netflix and wants me to pick movies. I like to watch romantic movies but he doesn't. If you know any good movies, please share us. Thanks.
TheLoneSock Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 KICK-ASS It looks pretty dumb from the previews, but it's actually really good.
Author kuma Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Funny title. Sounds like a fun movie. Thanks.
Green Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 KICK-ASS It looks pretty dumb from the previews, but it's actually really good. KICK-ASS is still in theatres thus can't be rented on Netflix yet Has anyone seen any good movies lately? My H has Netflix and wants me to pick movies. I like to watch romantic movies but he doesn't. I recently saw the reader and the sex scenes are realy explicit so that might carry him through...
crazycatlady Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I like Netflix because we can watch as many movies as we want, and so we both get to watch ones more to our own tastes. Watching online is the easiest way to get movies we both like. Somenights he's watched one movie on the tv, and I've watched another on the laptop with earphones on, and we just sit together and enjoy each other's presence without having to tolerate each other's choices. But trying all different types of movies on netflix isn't a waste of money like it is at a traditional movie rental store. The only waste of money is if you aren't picking anything at all.
Author kuma Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 For example...you like romance, and he doesn't. What do you BOTH like?...... Comedies, Thrillers? Once you discover the MUTUAL genre.....start choosing. BTW....I am a HUGE movie fan. My ex was not. I did not like her movie choices. However.....I should have worked at recommending something we both liked rather than criticize her choices. Hi B, My H' is a big movie fan. I'm not. I like to read books, stories on line.. Some of his favorite comedies are Goin' South and history of the world. He likes horror movies. And he can watch "Jaws" and "Gladiator" over and over again. This movie thing is his idea. To be honest we really don't have mutual interests in anything. That's why I needed other people's input. Thanks for your advice!

So I don't mind having movie nights. It's nice you and your H spend time like that, nice... real mature relationship.. We'll get there someday.
califnan Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I don't know if Netflix offers old movies.. Having just come into the cable movie channels in the last two yrs, have truly enjoyed catching up on the older ones. If you and your husband haven't seen Charlie Wilson's War (2007) Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts .. I think that it is a Colorful movie for both men and women ..
califnan Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 P.S. The AMC series "Mad Men" is also enjoyable - (between seasons now) ..

sally4sara Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I recommend: Oldboy, True Romance (romance for you but it is still a guy flick), Survive Style 5 (another romance + action film) Oldboy and Survive Style 5 are subtitled. You can set them without subtitles and hear it in English, but a lot gets lost in the way they translate it with the voice-overs. Those are my 3 all time favorites.
