sandiego Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Ok, so I've been rollin' around in the mud with my ex for 7 months after our breakup. We tried getting back together 3 months after the initial breakup, it lasted for a month until she found someone new (she moved out of state for a new job immediately following our breakup). I hung around during this time, holding onto false hope and breadcrumbs. I heard it all, "I can definitely see us together someday", "it's definitely possible we'll be together someday", and now that she's coming home to visit her parents, she tells me she'd "really like to see me". Of course, before the guy she's been dating for 1 month broke up with her last week, seeing me wasn't an option. FINALLY, told her tonight I would not see her when she comes home, and that I'd let her know when I'm ready to be friends. It was pretty civil, she seemed totally aloof.....pretty much made it easy for me. I GUARANTEE she will try to call or text me over the next several weeks, like she's done in the past after I initiated NC. Of course, I always felt bad after not responding to several attempts...so I always did. I could really use the support of the posters on LS to hold me to NC! June 10th will be 30 days and I'd love to celebrate it here. Anyone who is considering holding on, waiting for their ex to "come around" and realize how much they've lost.....I can tell you from experience that NC is your best bet. The only time my ex gf has expressed interest in getting back together was AFTER I started ignoring her. Not saying it'll bring them back, but you'll at least keep your dignity, and they'll respect you for it. Either way it'll work to your advantage, regardless if you want them back or not. I'm pretty much over the horrible grief and pining stage.......but would be much futher ahead had I started NC from the beginning...which again, was 7 months ago. Wish me luck! sandiego
USMCHokie Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Congrats on taking this positive step in making your life better! Just take it one day at a time, and eventually you'll even stop counting the days. Good luck, and stay strong! NC FTW!
