bluryy Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Can anyone share with me, what is love all about? i'm seriously friggin lost here. How do you know when the person is the right one? When you get together with the person, you have so much frigging problems and issues, and when you two are apart, you missed each other like mad? Can anyone enlighten me? Im seriously LOST. i thought love was supposed to be something that works out just fine without any problems and issues, damn it. Yet on the other hand, i realized that love is all about committing and putting in the hard work, but where is the exact balance?
zetkin Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Probably no one here knows much about love. I posted a similar thread some time ago - got only one really short reply...
supersub Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 To me love has been about the right amount of passion, mutual respect, and belief in each other. I also think you have to be crazy about each other. Problems happen in any relationship, what perhaps sets true love apart is the ability of each person to be able to communicate and resolve the issues that you have. People who truly love each other will always have issues, they just have to be invested enough to face and conquer them together.

Yet on the other hand, i realized that love is all about committing and putting in the hard work, but where is the exact balance? The exact balance is actually found inside each person within the relationship. You have to love yourself and others on equal footing less you be too co-dependent or too narcissistic. You have to stand firm on your beliefs while tolerating those of the one you love. You have to be aggressive when the time calls for it and not be "nice guy passive-aggressive." The person who is least invested in the relationship controls the relationship. Love doesn't have to last forever to be a meaningful chapter in your life. Having loved and lost may not only be better than never having loved at all, but also having always been in love. It is just human nature to want what we can not have and to often take for granted something we've always had. True love means making a sacrifice or commitment despite what is returned. That 80 year old guy pushing his wife in a wheel chair around when she just had a stroke? That's true love -- everything else is just hormones doing a song and dance. Whether you are the one pushing or being pushed in that situation -- congratulations, you've figured out love. Everything else is just a wild ride that you just have to appreciate and live in the moment for. The road to our grave is going to be covered in rivers of tears and mountains of laughs but it is going to be a hell of a journey regardless.

Here's your answer, on video and explained by an authority on the subject. If you want to know more, Google her name. For now, turn on your sound and watch this:
