TwilightSky Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 If you just found out someone you were interested in had Plastic Surgery, would that be a huge turn off to you? If so, why?
JaneDoe35 Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Well I guess I would only be concerned if it became some sort of obsession. Have you had surgery?
Author TwilightSky Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 I'm considering Rhinoplasty, maybe other things depending on the aesthetic advice I get elsewhere. Why? Just like any other person who gets it, I want to look better.
PrettyinInk Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 i guess it would depend on the reason for getting it, if it was about vanity then it would be a turn off, but i am generally turned off by people who put too much empasis on looks (because they are fleeting)- i am not saying physical attraction, and apperance is not important in relationships, but someone that would go to the extreme of plastic surgery, which can be deadly, just to look better, that would concern me a great deal. plus then, i would wonder if they were so obsessed with looks, then what did they think my flaws were, what plastic surgery would they want me to undergo to meet their standards.
RobM Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 I don't think it would bother me at all if it was just one, but if they had had like 20 I would seriously wonder about them.

You have a point about how that relates to that person obsessing over someone else's flaws. But, some people have an extremely detrimental physical flaw, that if removed could make them have a better chance in the dating scene.
JaneDoe35 Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 It is so hard to determine 'physical flaw'. How do you judge this?
Author TwilightSky Posted May 8, 2010 Author Posted May 8, 2010 It is so hard to determine 'physical flaw'. How do you judge this? Good question! Symmetry would be my best guess, along with some other factors I can't think of right now. But it is a complex question.
Kaplan Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 It would bother me if I was attached to a girl's face and then I learned that part of it wasn't real.
Ruby Slippers Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 It would be a big turn-off for me. I would wonder why he feels he's so lacking in internal qualities that he has to go under the knife to change his appearance. I would be understanding if someone had reconstructive surgery after a disfiguring accident, or to correct a serious birth defect or something like that, but skeeved out by the typical nip and tuck procedures.
