Don'tWannabeAWannabe Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 This has been my main dilemma with trying to meet girls. I have been studying pick up techniques and going out of the way to try to chat up a few girls, though few and far between. But in order to get good, you have to practice a lot. The thing is, you only have 1 chance at a first introduction, so you have to approach lots and lots of women and blow it with them to become good at attracting women. Here's my main problem with this pattern... Women are EXTREMELY judgmental and gossipy. I know how viciously women can make fun of men they've never even met behind their backs. For example, in college, there was a guy who would walk his puppy through campus. A LOT of the girls laughed at him behind his back, saying it was a cheesy attempt to meet girls. I knew a circle of girls who called a BURN-VICTIM "scary looking" when he left the room. It is extremely easy to become "That guy" to women; by "That guy" I mean that guy who girls think is "creepy" or "weird" or "awkward" or "a tool" or "a loser." How can you comfortably and confidently approach a woman knowing that if you botch it up, she's going to think poorly of you and make fun of you once your gone (and in the process, destroying your chances with the women she knows)? What can you do when you live in a small area and there are hundreds of hundreds of young girls to sacrifice in the name of practice?

Here's the kicker. Stop. Caring. Seriously, you don't need a womans approval to validate your self-worth. If she thinks poorly of you, that's her problem. If you've been polite, sincere and respectful in your approach and she spits it all back in your face, congratulate yourself for dodging a bullet. People like that aren't worth the time of day. Once you reach that level of self-confidence, you can basically disconnect from the outcome. Do you know what gets the girls more than *any* other quality in a man? Confidence.

But it's not something you can willfully flip on and off like a light switch.
amagordos Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 You're stereotyping us, saying that we are all catty. That is so not true. All girls are different and we all have different tastes and I would personally find a guy walking his puppy around campus as something really cute because I love dogs. Stop thinking all girls talk bad behind your back, we don't all do that.

It isn't you trying to figure out if they would like you, it is you trying to determine if they are worth your time.
Chicago_Guy Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 You just need to make yourself more comfortable talking to girls. The more girls who are strangers that you talk to, the easier it will be to talk to other girls in the future. If you are really nervous when you approach a girl, you'll probably come across as awkward, but the more comfortable you can make yourself, the less awkward you will seem in the future.
