nothappyjan Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Been back on the dating train....met a great guy who just moved to my city, very sweet. Had 3 awesome dates, all 3 went for a long time a mix of nighttime and daytime activities. But still no physical affection at all, its obviously not a friends situation as in texts hes mentioned us in the future and says things like sexy, gorgeous, doesnt want another man to steal me and hes quite flirty in texts or fb etc. But no physical affection other than a hug once and a kiss on the cheek once, both when saying goodbye. He hasnt tried to hold my hand or touch me in anyway and no attempt at a kiss. Its our fourth date tomorrow and im worried nothing will happen again. Do you think he's shy? or waiting for me to do something? I hate making the first move iwth guys in case i'm reading them wrong and look like an idiot
D-Lish Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I think it's safe to say he likes you- especially by the things he texts. How do you respond to those texts? Maybe he is trying to get reassurance from your responses to get a green light?
Author nothappyjan Posted May 3, 2010 Author Posted May 3, 2010 haha im pretty flirty back and i even started doing the xx at the end of texts to give a hint:p he does it back now but still no real life kiss, he's planning a weekend away for us next month and already booking it this week so he seems to like me though!
NeoGen85 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I like this man; he sounds like me. Seriously. I went on several dates with my girlfriend before sending a kiss or any type of physical affection in her direction. But just like you, she obviously knew I liked her. Now, he knows that making the move is up to him. He's just trying to do it right. Booking a weekend away for you two? Stop worrying about it. It'll happen. Sounds like you want him to jump your bones with a warm embrace and a intimate kiss. Let him take it slow.
Rorschach Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 One of my favorite things about coming to this site as it shows me all the common mistakes people make in dating, and as a guy I'm probably very shy when it comes to showing affection (due to an innate fear of being rejected) but after reading all these other guys I've made the decision to be a bit more forward as it seems to be what women expect/want.
alphamale Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 He hasnt tried to hold my hand or touch me in anyway and no attempt at a kiss. thats sorta weird

RobM Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I hate making the first move iwth guys in case i'm reading them wrong and look like an idiot Maybe he feels exactly the same way, you can either wait or just make the first move, as soon as he shows up for your next date give him a big unexpected kiss, do you really think he'll freak out? I doubt he will, and if he does I guess that's something you should know sooner than later.
mike1988 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Well, I'm 22 this year...I don't know how old you are...but I find it hard to continue to be flirtatious if I get the feeling the woman isn't interested in me anymore than being a friend. Are you sure you're being flirty towards him? I've never had a girlfriend, even now after the Military, so I don't really know what to look for when a girl wants me in "that" way.
Author nothappyjan Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 i'm 23 he's 27. Its ok ive decided to pull out the big guns and go mega flirty and wear my sexiest outfit tonight, he was with me when i got it so i know he approves I dont like guys who rush but if nothing happens tonight i will feel a tad impatient, not that it would stop me from continuing to see him though:) Even holding my hand would be nice
sagetalk Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I dont like guys who rush but if nothing happens tonight i will feel a tad impatient, not that it would stop me from continuing to see him though:) Even holding my hand would be nice I like that sentence right there, it shows you have smarts. I would say in general, the more a guy likes you (a relationship with you not just having sex with you), the less physical he is early in a relationship. I know that sounds weird, but the dating world is almost always opposite of what you would expect. If he keeps asking you out, he likes you. A player would be on you physically from hello, do you think they are a great catch? Just remember that.
