lullaby Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Well, my ex called me today! He broke up with me on April 5th and we haven't seen each other since. My story is post already. The point is that he still had one thing at my place (we almost lived together), he had a stupid sword his father had given him as a present because he loves martial arts. So he called today and it caught me by surprise. He had already called me at home last week to thank me for a letter I had sent him but we never talked because I was out. Then a week passed till today when he asked if we could meet tomorrow, that he would like to pick up his sword, but here is the thing: during our last conversations (via text or phone, there were 3 or 4 messages and 1 call 20 days ago) he was really distant and cold. Today he was all talkative and humorous and started asking about uni, and work, and even asked me if I was going out with friends now.??? I answered him but gave no details as to what I'm really doing, of course. So well, that's it. He is coming tomorrow to pick up his sword. It may be an excuse to see me or not. He won't say "I want to see you and talk". What is weird though, is that since he was so distant and cold, he could have just sent me a text and say "Hey, I need the sword, could I pick it up?" and that's it, but he decided to call and talk to me and ask me things.¡¡?? Anyway, I know I have to be centered and not let myself be carried away. I decided to accept his proposal of meeting because either way I need to get some kind of closure (if there is one) but I need to know more because we never actually had a conversation about what happened. There are many options and much can occur tomorrow. I'll try to act cool and see how it goes. What do you think? Any pieces of advice or points of view??
CarrieT Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Personally, I had him over his sword and then say something like, "well, gotta go -- I've got a date..." And then leave and not give him a chance to chit-chat or get to know anything about you or how you are doing.
ADF Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 In my experience, men contact their ex's for just one reason: to try to rekindle something. I'd bet when all is said and done, you'll find your ex is either looking get back together (possible) or lure you into some kind of FWB situation (likely). If you want that, fine. If not, not. See what happens.

As long as there was something of his in your house of course he'd come around sooner or later. Aren't you glad that you didn't contact him when you wanted? Hope all works out for you. As for me I still haven't heard from my ex and I'm still stuck on whether to text her or not

Anyway, I'm trying not to get my hopes up because it could be the end, the final goodbye, but... at least I'll have some sort of answer and closure. I'm nervous!!! According to your case, try to wait! it may take her more time! At least, try to wait another week. Now that the weekend is ending, you'll find it easier during the week, you know it. If you see that you really need to contact her, well do it. But take me as a example, remember how similar our stories are? she'll come around soon or later, at least to tell you goodbye. Hope it all works out!!!! let me know!
wingman2 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Well we have already said our goodbyes really. That was about 6 weeks ago now. She already came around 2 weeks ago wondering if I'm thinkinng about her and telling me she's missing me. I really had the feeling she was aiming for reconciliation but our last talk changed everything. I couldn't hold it in anymore so I wrote her =( hope I didn't make a mistake. Ill be getting something from her today though. I just asked her what her intention was for wanting to talk to me and what she got out of it or was hoping to get out of it. I asked in a very gentle manner. I hope all turns out well for me. Good luck to you, hope the meet with ur ex went well.
