BlueeyedJonesy Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Anyone try this? I just ordered it a few days ago..I'm sick and tired of the constant fight with our 5 yr old..he will NOT eat veggies whatsoever! I have to make sure he gets his daily serving with v8..lol he has no idea there are veggies in it..but I really need to work him into some regular food that we can all eat. does anyone have experience with this book? I'm huge into cooking so it breaks my heart when my little guy won't eat what I make.
TaraMaiden Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I know it's very hard, but sometimes, what makes it worse is that you feel anxious, and they dig their heels in. buy some kids multivitamins, speak to a nutritionist, but I have to tell you... My partner developed a personal intense dislike against anything remotely healthy at a very early age.... Now, he's better, but as a youngster, if it wasn't either potato or meat protein, he wouldn't go near it. Just try to make his diet as healthy as possible - nutritious fruity milkshakes, with banana and a prune ... Try this: 4 fl oz of plain yoghurt.* a half-pint of soya milk* half a block of silken tofu* 1 tablespoon of honey 1 tablespoon of blackstrap molasses 1 banana# 3 dried prunes# 2 brazil nuts, crushed# 5 almonds, crushed# 1 dessertspoon each of pumpkin seed and sunflower seed# 1 tablespoon of oat flakes. # put all ingredients marked * in the blender, first. follow with ingredients marked # one by one.... Lastly, add honey and molasses. Whizz all the ingredients really well in a blender. Serve cold. make it for yourself. Then try out, and decide what you should leave in, and what you should take out. My partner saw me make it one day and really grimaced. he accepted my dare to taste it. begrudgingly admitted he likes it. now has one at least 3 times a week....! I wish you luck, but try not to stress about it.....
Author BlueeyedJonesy Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 Thanks Tara! I will try it..

califnan Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Anyone try this? I just ordered it a few days ago..I'm sick and tired of the constant fight with our 5 yr old..he will NOT eat veggies whatsoever! I'm huge into cooking so it breaks my heart when my little guy won't eat what I make. --------------------- Blue, When I was small my mother fed me a mixture of fresh cooked spinach*, mashed potatos, cut up hardboiled eggs - all mixed together and w butter on it (I like a little vinegar on mine as well) .. Now my sons continued in the tradition of loving it as well, even when they were small .. But, though I was raised on vegetables and I raised my sons on the vegetables - my grandson did not eat vegetables - as well as your son. I think you are on the right track with the V8, but it can taste salty - unless you want to mix the reg w the low sodium. What I really wanted to share with you, is the good news. When my grandson got to be almost eight years old, he developed an appetite - and since then he has really expanded on his intake of nutritional foods, incl many vegetables .. so hang in there - I think there is hope *a funny note, I must have really been a good sport - because one time I remember my mother going out in the yard and picking all the dandelions and cooking them .. bitter ha
tigereyes1428 Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 you need to relax - he is only 5 - does he eat fruit? how about home made soup - my kids get their veg intake from that - just put them on the plate and if he refuses take them away and try another day - the important thing is to work on them enjoying meals and not seeing meal time as battle time - it all works itself out - i also make home made pizza with my 6 year old and we throw veg on that - i find that he is more likely to eat things he has helped to make.
Author BlueeyedJonesy Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 I appreciate all of your suggestions! I put veggies on his plate everyday. He helps me cook dinner about once a week. he eats some fruit..mostly bananas oranges and grapes...he is starting to like apples. I know we will get there one day I'm just experimenting as usual..lol I think my book will be here today so we'll see.
Author BlueeyedJonesy Posted May 3, 2010 Author Posted May 3, 2010 I made "peanut butter waffles" this weekend with sweet potato/carrot puree whole wheat flower 6tbsp peanut butter eggs and baking soda...DS LOVED THEM!!!! they tasted like a peanut butter cookie, and a PLUS, my H ate them and he hates sweet potatoes. I could barely contain myself as I watched both of them devour them!:) I made 3 different purees this weekend for more recipes. Tomorrow is DS' bday and I'm making "brainy brownies" with spinach and blueberry puree..I've heard great reviews on this one. I will let you all know.
